Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
Hello @Stephanie,
Thank you for posting your valuable question on Microsoft Q&A forum.
Based on your description, I understand that you want to use the Category feature in New Outlook to Sort for emails that you categorized. If that is not exactly what you mean, please correct me and send a screenshot describing your old category if comfortable. (Please remember to remove any personal information before uploading images on this forum).
In the New Outlook, you can Sort by Category with these options:
1. Sort by Category
You can still sort your inbox by category:
- Go to your Inbox or any mail folder.
- Click the Sort button (top-right corner).
- Choose Category from the dropdown.
- This groups emails by their assigned categories.
2. Filter by Clicking a Category Tag
- Click on a category tag shown in the subject line of an email.
- Outlook will filter and show all emails with that category.
- To exit, click the left arrow in the search bar.
Note: Filtering behaves differently depending on the folder. In the Inbox, it shows results across all folders; in other folders, it filters only within that folder.
3. Search by Category
Use the Search Folder feature:
- In the Outlook search bar, enter the Category name that you want to search for.
- The Category will appear in the option list.
- Click on the right result to jump to the Category you want.
