Hi Sylar Jackson,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A and thank you for sharing your issue with Microsoft Paint. I know how frustrating it can be when a core app like Paint isn’t working as expected, and I’d like to help you get it resolved quickly.

One of the most effective ways to restore Paint is by running the following command in Command Prompt (Run as Administrator):

dism /Online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:Microsoft.Windows.MSPaint~~~~0.0.1.0

This command uses the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool to reinstall or restore Microsoft Paint on your current Windows installation. It’s especially useful if Paint was removed, corrupted, or not functioning properly.

To better assist you, could you please clarify:

  • What exactly happens when you try to open or use MSPaint?
  • Are there any error messages or system behaviors you’ve noticed?
  • Was Paint removed manually or after a system update?

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Repair or Reset Paint via Settings

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps
  • Locate Paint, click the three-dot menu → Advanced Options
  • First, try Repair to fix any corrupted files.
  • If that doesn’t work, use Reset to restore Paint to its default state.

2. Uninstall and Reinstall Paint

3. Clear Microsoft Store Cache

  • Press Win + R, type wsreset.exe, and press Enter.
  • This will clear the Store cache and reopen the Microsoft Store, which can resolve installation issues.

Please let me know the details of your issue so I can provide more targeted support. I'm happy to assist further if needed.
