Hi luke,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
I'm sorry to hear that you're seeing white spots on your laptop screen, especially on a device that’s newly bought. This is often a manufacturing or component quality defect, not something you caused or a software problem.
You can confirm this by taking a screenshot and viewing it on another device. If the white spots don’t appear in the screenshot, it's almost always a hardware issue:
- Stuck pixels or Backlight bleed caused by pressure damage during shipping or use.
- Some LCD panels may have pixel or backlight inconsistencies from the factory.
- Dust or debris behind the screen (unlikely but still possible)
- If the laptop heats up unevenly or is twisted slightly, it can affect the LCD layers.
Since this appears to be a hardware issue, it's not something that can be resolved with a software fix from Q&A forum. In addition, as your laptop is only 11 days old, you are in a strong position for warranty and any attempt at self-repair could potentially void it. So your best option is to contact the retailer or manufacturer immediately for a repair, replacement, or refund!
- Check the policy for warranty with the retailer. Most retailers have a standard return or exchange policy (often 14-30 days for a brand-new product).
- If the return window with the retailer has closed, use the manufacturer's warranty. All new laptops come with a warranty that covers manufacturing defects.
- Gather your purchase receipt and the laptop's box and accessories.
Even small white spots can worsen over time. Since your laptop is new, it’s best to document the issue now and initiate a support request before the return or warranty window closes!
