Hi wilbert mogonchi,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
The Wi-Fi option is missing from Network & Internet can be incredibly frustrating, especially when everything else seems to be in place. A missing Wi-Fi option is a classic driver or hardware issue, which seems to be particularly common on Windows 11. Here are some suggestions on how you can quickly fix it:
1 - Run the built-in troubleshooter
- Let Windows try to identify and fix the problem automatically.
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
- Run the Network and Internet > Follow the on-screen instructions
2 - Reset Network Settings
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings
- Click Network reset > Restart your PC
3 - Check the Wi-Fi adapter:
- Press Win + X > Device Manager > Expand Network adapters
- Look for your Wi-Fi adapter (e.g., Intel Wireless, Realtek, etc.) and the strange behavior:
- Yellow exclamation mark > right-click > Update driver > Search automatically for drivers
- Option grayed out > right-click > Enable device
- Missing > click View menu > Show hidden devices > continue with above
- Can't find it at all > click Action > Scan for hardware changes
- If the issue persists but the driver looks normal, try the following steps one by one:
- Perform driver update it as instructed above (if possible)
- Right-click the adapter > Properties > Driver tab > Roll Back Driver (if the button is available)
- Right-click > Uninstall device > check the box that says Attempt to remove the driver software for this device if it appears > Restart PC
4 - Install the driver manually from another device with Internet connection:
- Visit the support website of laptop's manufacturer (e.g., Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS).
- Find your exact laptop model > Drivers & Downloads section > Wireless LAN or Wi-Fi driver
- Download the driver suitable with your setup > transfer it via USB to your affected laptop
- Run the installer > Restart your computer.
Since you're on a Windows Insider Preview build, it's also possible that a recent update introduced a bug affecting network stack or drivers. If you think the build is unstable or missing components, you can try to roll back to a stable build (if option available):
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program
- Choose Stop getting preview builds > Use Recovery options
