Having all my photos on the OneDrive is messing with the storage and I can't have that.

    Hi Sara Patino-Gallego,

I'm Hendrix, here to help with your query on the Microsoft Q&A forums.

If you want to remove photos from OneDrive without losing them on your device, please kindly follow these steps:

Step 1: Turn Off Photo Sync

Before deleting anything, stop OneDrive from syncing your photos. This prevents changes in OneDrive from affecting your phone.

    On Windows 11 PC:

    • Click the OneDrive icon in the taskbar.
    • Go to Settings → Sync and backup.
    • Turn off Photos or Camera roll backup.

    On Mobile (Android/iOS):

    • Open the OneDrive app.
    • Tap Me → Settings → Camera Upload.
    • Switch Camera upload to OFF.

Step 2: Make Sure Your Photos Are Safe

Confirm your photos are stored locally on your phone or PC. If needed, download them from OneDrive:

    • Sign in at Microsoft OneDrive
    • Select Photos, click Download, and save them to your device.

Step 3: Delete Photos from OneDrive

    • Go to Microsoft OneDrive.
    • Click Photos on the left.
    • Select all photos (click the first, hold Shift, click the last).
    • Click Delete, then empty the Recycle Bin to free up space.

Hi! To delete your OneDrive photos without touching your phone, first stop any syncing: in the OneDrive app on your phone turn Camera upload off.

Ensure any local photos on your computer aren’t inside the OneDrive folder, move them to a non-OneDrive location. Then visit onedrive.com > Photos (or My files > Pictures), select all, Delete, and empty the Recycle bin.
