I'm Hendrix, here to help with your query on the Microsoft Q&A forums.
If you want to remove photos from OneDrive without losing them on your device, please kindly follow these steps:
Step 1: Turn Off Photo Sync
Before deleting anything, stop OneDrive from syncing your photos. This prevents changes in OneDrive from affecting your phone.
On Windows 11 PC:
- Click the OneDrive icon in the taskbar.
- Go to Settings → Sync and backup.
- Turn off Photos or Camera roll backup.
On Mobile (Android/iOS):
- Open the OneDrive app.
- Tap Me → Settings → Camera Upload.
- Switch Camera upload to OFF.
Step 2: Make Sure Your Photos Are Safe
Confirm your photos are stored locally on your phone or PC. If needed, download them from OneDrive:
- Sign in at Microsoft OneDrive
- Select Photos, click Download, and save them to your device.
Step 3: Delete Photos from OneDrive
- Go to Microsoft OneDrive.
- Click Photos on the left.
- Select all photos (click the first, hold Shift, click the last).
- Click Delete, then empty the Recycle Bin to free up space.
