Hello Microsoft Support,

I am writing to ask about changing the language of the security emails I receive from Microsoft (for example, emails containing one-time security codes). Currently, all these emails are sent to me in russian. Unfortunately, I do not understand russian, which forces me to translate every message manually.

I have already checked my profile settings:

Region: Ukraine

Preferred languages: Ukrainian and English

Could you please confirm if it is possible to receive these security emails (including sign-in codes) in Ukrainian or English instead of russian?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best regards, Helga.

Доброго дня, службо підтримки Microsoft,

Hi @Feunoir

Thanks for using Microsoft product and posting in the Microsoft Q&A. I understand that you are receiving security notification emails in Russian, even though your profile's preferred languages are set to Ukrainian and English. I can certainly see how frustrating it is to have to translate critical security information, and I want to assure you that we can get this corrected.

Security verification messages are sent in the language of your account when the security info email/phone number was added.

To change the language, you need to remove it and re-add the security info to your account using the steps below.

  1. Go to the official Microsoft Account security page: https://account.microsoft.com/security
  2. Sign in with your username and password when prompted.
  3. Click on Security -> Manage How I Sign-in
  4. Find the email address where you are receiving the Russian notifications. Remove that email address as a way to verify your identity and then add it back again. This process typically resets the notification language to match the primary language currently set on your profile (Ukrainian or English). **Note:  **Before you can remove your email, you need to add another phone number or alternate email address or verify an existing one. If you ever lose access to your account, this info helps you get back in. User's image User's image

Important Note: After you update these settings, please be aware that it can sometimes take up to 24 hours for the change to fully propagate across all Microsoft services.

After following these steps, you can test the change by attempting an action that would trigger a security code, such as trying to change your password or access your advanced security options again. The new email you receive should be in your preferred language.

Please try these solutions in the order provided and let me know if any of them help resolve the issue. If the problem persists after trying all these methods, we can explore further troubleshooting steps.
