- The card number, expiration date, and CVV are entered correctly.
- The billing address matches exactly what your bank has on file.
- The card is not expired or blocked for international transactions.
Note: Card number and card type cannot be edited once saved. If there's a mistake, you'll need to remove the card and add a new one with the correct details.
You can edit other details like:
Billing address
Expiration date
Cardholder name
To do this, go to account.microsoft.com > sign in > navigate to Payment & billing > Payment options.
2. Card Type: Ensure that you are using a credit or debit card issued from the same country/region as your Microsoft account. Certain cards like prepaid or virtual cards may not be supported.
3. Card Status: Contact your bank to confirm that your card is active and able to be used for transactions. Sometimes, a card could be inactive or blocked.
4. Try a different payment method
If possible, try:
- A different credit/debit card.
- PayPal (if available in your region).
- Mobile payment options like Apple Pay (if supported).
5. Contact Microsoft Support Directly
