Automating Monthly Net Salary Reports in Excel from Online Data Sources

Hi everyone,

I’m working on automating a monthly salary report in Excel for Italian employees. The goal is to make the sheet automatically calculate net salary calculation 2025 [calcolo stipendio netto 2025] values showing the full breakdown from da lordo a netto, including IRPEF, INPS, and regional taxes without manually updating rates each month.

Right now, I’m using data from reliable calcolo stipendio netto tools online, but I’d like Excel to fetch these updates automatically. Ideally, the workbook should connect to an online data source or use Power Query to refresh the tax and contribution values whenever they change.

Has anyone tried something similar for payroll or HR dashboards? Would Power Query or an API connection be the best approach for keeping these calculations up to date?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If someone wants more details I will edit my question and add the web source.

    Hello @Giuseppina rinaldi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A forum!

Although your concern is typically outside the scope of my usual support responsibilities, I’ve taken the time to research it, and I’d love to share what I found to help you move forward.

In this case, Power Query is a very suitable solution. If the website presents the tax data in a clear HTML table, you can use Power Query in Excel to:

    • Connect directly to the URL
    • Extract the relevant data

Note: You may need to refresh the query daily, depending on how frequently the site updates its tax rates.

To get more advanced support and connect with others working on similar payroll automation scenarios, I highly recommend posting your question on Home | Microsoft Community Hub or Newest Questions - Stack Overflow
