PC Manager slow!

Hi, I started using the "New" PC Manager about a year ago and think it's great. With me being in the UK I had to change region to USA (temporary) to get it from the "Store". The problem I have is occasionally it is very slow especially the "Health Check". When I scan it says what it is looking for like "Junk files" etc over and over again before the bar goes across. I have gone into "App" settings and reset and also uninstalled and put back but just the same! Over the months when a new version comes out it works fine again for a while! I have a friend who has the same problem, and he does the same (waits for new version etc). When it is working correctly, I can do all checks in a couple of minutes but not now!

Hi Alex-L, thanks for replying to my problem with PC Manager. I have virtually done more or less all the things you have mentioned! Like I said in my forum I have a friend who has the same problem! We both wait for a new "version" to come out which corrects it. I have noticed that the last update was in September (the 15th). We were getting updates at least once a month sometimes two which seems strange! Another friend of mine had read there was a "Big" update coming and maybe why the delay! I have spent too much time trying to correct things so will see what happens in the near future! We all like the PC Cleaner when it functions correctly! We are still baffled why it's not in the UK! I don't think I have had an App before which I have to change the region.

    Hi BRIAN LOFTHOUSE

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Q&A Forum!

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing some frustrating slowdowns with the PC Manager, especially during the Health Check.

Here are a few things you might try to help speed things up:

    1) Verify the app build and reset its local cache (without losing settings)

    • Check PC Manager version: Open PC Manager > Settings > About.
    • Repair & Reset: Settings > Apps > Installed apps > PC Manager > Advanced options > Repair, then test Health Check. If still slow, Reset.
    • Clear Microsoft Store cache: Press Win+R, run wsreset.exe. After Store reopens, set region back to United Kingdom, then check for updates.

    2) Reduce “Health Check” scan friction

    • Temporarily pause Defender real‑time protection while you run one test scan, then turn it back on. If speed improves, add exclusions for %LocalAppData%\Temp\ and %SystemRoot%\Temp\.
    • Disable aggressive third‑party cleaners for one test run.
    • Check Disk activity during the stall using Task Manager to see if other processes are hogging resources.

    3) Fix underlying Windows components Health Check depends on

    • Run Disk Cleanup: cleanmgr.exe > Clean up system files > tick Temporary files and Windows Update Cleanup.
    • Enable Storage Sense in Settings > System > Storage.
    • Run system file health checks:
    sfc /scannow
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    • Ensure Microsoft Update Health Service is running.

    4) Reinstall cleanly if you acquired PC Manager via region switching

    • Uninstall PC Manager.
    • Sign out of Store, set region to United Kingdom > Open Run > Type wsreset.exe enter , sign back in.
    • Reinstall PC Manager fresh to avoid mismatched Store rings causing latency.

Hope this helps. Let us know if anything comes up!
