How can I talk to a support person without a business account? (Being billed for account I can't access)

I am being charged and invoiced for a Microsoft Power BI Pro license that I obtained over two years ago. I have tried SEVERAL times to access the account. I know what emails could have been used to access the account, but neither exist anymore.

I have the Primary Tenant ID.

Online support tried to convince me to stop email notifications without solving the problem, then directed me to the Business team and sent me a number that didn't work. Called the business number and am directed back to online support.

How can I talk to a person? Do I seriously need to call my bank to cancel my subscription?

    Dear @Kirstin Crawford,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand your frustration with being billed for a Power BI Pro license that you cannot access, and I appreciate the details you've provided.

To help you resolve this, we need to verify your account ownership so that our support team can assist further. The most effective way to do this is by providing specific proof of ownership. Please gather the following information, as it will be crucial for our support team to locate your account and address the billing issue:

    1. The primary tenant number (that you have mentioned).
    2. Any invoices related to this subscription.
    3. Transaction details

You can receive our private message to send this confidential information.*

If the information you have is not available or is unclear, or you do not remember it clearly. To help you create a ticket and communicate directly with our billing team, I recommend you create a new temporary trial account.

This method will connect you directly with our paid support engineers who are equipped to handle cross-tenant account and billing issues like yours.

Important: Please remember to cancel your trial subscription in the new admin center after your issue is resolved to avoid any unintended charges.

As a member of the community support team, I’m limited in my ability to access or make changes within your administrator account. For security and privacy reasons, only Microsoft’s dedicated support team has the necessary tools and authorization to assist with account-level issues such as resetting or troubleshooting deep within your account.

This is the most direct path to get a person to review your case. I am confident our support team will be able to assist you further.

    Hi,

Thanks for your patience, let us try this option.

When prompted, say “billing” or “Power BI” to be routed correctly.

If you're calling about a business account, have your tenant ID or subscription ID ready.

If you're redirected to a form or chat again, ask for live agent escalation.

    Please visit this page- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/business/sales-support

    Let see how it goes,

    All the best

    Edward

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back. That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially when you're just trying to get support for a Microsoft 365 Business account but keep getting redirected or blocked.

Let's try to use the Microsoft Account Recovery Form

If you're locked out of a business account and can't log in, try this:

    Go to https://account.live.com/acsr

Fill out the form with as much detail as possible.

Use an alternate email address where they can contact you.

    Let see how it goes.

    Regards,

    Edward

    Hi,

Thanks for laying everything out so clearly. I totally understand why you're frustrated , being charged for a Power BI Pro license you can’t even access is incredibly annoying. Let me walk you through what you can do to get this sorted.

Even if you’re locked out of the account, you can still reach Microsoft through their billing support form. Just head over to the Microsoft Support Request page https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus and choose Power BI or Microsoft 365 as the product. Under the billing and subscription section, explain that you’re being billed for an account you can’t access. It helps to include any email addresses you think were tied to the account, your Tenant ID, and whatever billing info you have, like the last 4 digits of your card or a PayPal transaction ID. Be sure to ask for a cancellation and refund.

If you’d rather speak to someone directly, Microsoft does have a customer service phone line. You can find the right number for your region here: Microsoft Customer Service Phone Numbers.- https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/customer-service-phone-numbers-c0389ade-5640-e588-8b0e-28de8afeb3f2

I recommend calling during business hours for the best chance of getting through. When prompted, say “Billing,” and if they ask whether it’s a business account, just let them know it’s an individual subscription.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,

    Edward
