How do you tab between open spreadsheets on Microsoft Excel on a Mac?

I have always used Alt Tab on a windows PC. Using Cmd and Tab only allows change of programmes.

Control and left or right arrows show open programmes too but also other excel spreadsheets open.

Is this the only way?

    Dear Kevin Dawson

Thank you for posting your question on the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Since you’ve already tried a few methods, I’d like to share some additional options that may help you switch between open Excel spreadsheets on your Mac more efficiently:

    • Trackpad Gestures: Swipe left or right with three fingers to move between open windows quickly.
    • Mission Control: Press Control + Up Arrow to activate Mission Control, which displays all open windows, including Excel spreadsheets. From there, you can select the one you need.
    • Keyboard Shortcut: Use Command + ~ (tilde) to cycle through open Excel windows without leaving the application.

Please give these methods a try and let me know if they work for you.

The keyboard shortcut to switch between open windows of the same document is Command+ [aka Command+~]. Not though that the OS doesn't support that if either of the windows is in Full Screen View.

You also can use the Window menu or right-click the Excel icon in the Dock to select by name which workbook window to bring to the front.
