Request for Admin Account Recovery – remove PII

Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I am writing on behalf of remove PII, where I serve as a member of the executive board since July 31, 2025, following our latest general assembly.

We are currently unable to access our Microsoft admin account. The previous board members had the login credentials and attempted to assist with the initial admin login verification. However, due to time constraints, this confirmation process was never completed. Subsequently, the phone of our former chairperson (who was the contact person for the verification process) was damaged, and she no longer has access to her authentication device.

As a result, we are locked out of the admin account and urgently need assistance regaining access.

Please advise us on the steps required to verify our identity and restore administrative access to our organization’s Microsoft account.

Our organization’s details are as follows:

Organization name: remove PII

Location: remove PII

Position: Member of the Executive Board

Email: remove PII

Phone number: remove PII

Thank you very much for your help and understanding.

We appreciate your prompt assistance with this matter.

    Hi @Anastasia Klass,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how important it is for your organization to regain access to your admin account. Since the original verification was not completed and the previous contact no longer has access to their authentication device, we’ll need to verify your organization’s identity before restoring administrative access. Please follow these steps outlined below to regain access:

Option 1: Contact Microsoft Data Protection Support by Phone (Primary Method)

To regain access to your admin account as you can't access the Admin Portal, you can try reaching out to our Global Customer Service phone to raise a request for resetting your authentication method here: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support. During the call, request to speak to an agent, and share with them every detail related to your query and also mention that you are the only admin lost access to your account. This should allow you to contact the appropriate team so you can solve this incident as soon as possible.

Here are some tips and an example of a prompt to help you navigate the IVR more effectively:

In some countries, it is an automated conversation like:

IVR: What kind of problem are you concerned about?

    You: Authenticator.

IVR: What kind of product do you use?

    You: Office 365 for business.

IVR confirmation: education or company account?

    You: For companies

    IVR: Are you an administrator?

    You: Yes.

IVR: Do you have another administrator in your organization?

    You: No.

IVR: Do you need a... Service request?

You: Yes. I need to create a ticket. Please send me direct to the Data Protection Team.

Option 2: Create a Temporary Account (Trial Tenant) to Submit a Support Ticket (Alternative Method)

If you still cannot reach to a live agent, there is still a workaround, you might consider registering for a new tenant by signing up for a trial subscription via this link Microsoft 365 Business Plans and Pricing | Microsoft 365. This would allow you to create a new tenant following the prompts provided. Once set up, you can access the admin console of the new tenant and submit a support ticket requesting to speak with the Data Protection team on behalf of your previous tenant.

In your ticket description, you'll need to clearly explain that you're trying to regain access to your previous Microsoft 365 tenant and need help from the Data Protection team. Here's a message you can use or adapt:

"Hello, I’m currently unable to access my previous Microsoft 365 tenant due to losing MFA access, which prevents me from receiving verification codes. I’m the global admin, but I’m locked out and unable to generate a QR code or bypass MFA.

I created this new tenant solely to request assistance. I kindly ask to be connected with the Data Protection team to verify my identity and help me recover access to the original tenant.

This is urgent, as I rely on Microsoft 365 for my work and have been unable to operate for several days. I’m available to provide any documentation or verification needed to support the recovery process."

Ticket Support: In the Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Support > Help & Support. You can raise support ticket at https://admin.microsoft.com/#/support/requests

Please remember to cancel the trial subscription once your issue is resolved to avoid any unintended charges.

I hope this helps you regain access to your account quickly. I'm glad to assist and truly hope the information provided has been useful. Please feel free to reach out anytime if you need further assistance.

To regain access to your Microsoft admin account for Waldorfkindergarten Remscheid, you will need to follow these steps:

    1. Confirm Account Details: Ensure that you are using the correct email account associated with your Microsoft 365 tenant.
    2. Submit a Support Request: If you cannot access the admin portal, you should submit a support request through the Microsoft 365 support page. Here’s how:
      • Go to the Microsoft 365 support page.
      • Select I can't sign in or access my tenant.
      • You may be required to verify your identity and ownership of the organization using:
        • Official business documentation.
        • Domain ownership.
        • Publicly listed nonprofit registration data.
    3. Contact IT Partner: If a Microsoft partner created or manages your tenant, reach out to their support team for assistance.
    4. Provide Documentation: When submitting your request, include as much information as possible, such as your organization’s name, domain, registration email, and any proof of nonprofit status or legal documentation that matches your domain.
    5. Respond Promptly: Be prepared to respond quickly to any follow-up requests from Microsoft for verification.

Since your previous contact person is unavailable, it’s crucial to gather any available documentation that can help verify your organization’s identity.

If you need further assistance, you can also reach out through the Contact Us form for Microsoft nonprofit support.
