Additional meeting and call-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for business
To set up translation captions in a live Microsoft Teams meeting, you need to ensure that you have the Teams Premium license, as this feature is part of that offering. Here are the steps to enable live translated captions:
- Ensure Teams Premium License: Make sure that the meeting organizer has a Teams Premium license, as this is required for attendees to use live translated captions.
- Set Up Meeting Policy: In the Teams admin center, navigate to Meetings > Meeting policies. You can either edit an existing policy or create a new one. Ensure that the Live captions setting is set to Not enabled, but users can enable.
- Select Languages: During the meeting, the organizer can preselect up to 10 languages for attendees to use for live translated captions. If you want the captions to appear in French, ensure that French is selected as one of the languages.
- Enable Live Captions: During the meeting, the organizer or participants can toggle on live captions from the control bar. They can also select the caption language by clicking on the Captions language button after captions start.
By following these steps, your spoken words during the presentation should appear in French in the captions for attendees who have selected that language.
