Hello .. we use this printer for Aura and Chakra Photography in our business.
My only solution was to do the bare-metal recovery of the laptop and take it back to Windows 10 and then block any updates or Win 11 upgrades.

What are the plans to release a Windows 11 driver for the Canon Selphy 1500 photo printer? The latest update for Windows 11 has altered the Microsoft IPP drivers and it no longer supports Japanese Postcard or Color printing.
This now makes this printer useless for our applications in our business.
Using the Android or iPhone App is not an option as our workflow does not support this.
Please update on the plans to release an appropriate device specific driver for this printer.Driver Advanced - 100625.png

2025-11-15T16:23:10.3833333+00:00 Hello Stanley - Sorry to hear you are having the same issue. Complete, unaccapetable radio silence from both MS and Canon regarding this matter.
In the end I had to do a bare metal recovery and rebuild of the PC back to Windows 10 and disable any updates to Windows 11. Multiple weeks of frustration and lost revenue due to this issue.
I am still wondering where I should send the invoice for my time and trouble.

I also struggle since months, but it's the first time I hear that the recent updates of WIN11 are the reason for my photo booths detecting the wrong paper size and grayscale. So I learned a little bit and can give up.
I tried to solve this with Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude. ChatGPT has given me a script that should help me save the IPP driver from a working Tablet and install it on one that causes this problem. Didn't have time yet to figure that out.
Parallel I am working with Claude now to bypass Windows drivers and spooler completely and send the printing data directly with Python to the printer. We are doing progresses slowly, but it would be cool to have a tool that also eliminates the problems with the spooler that the Selphy printers often have.

I have a very similar issue with cp1500 using the IPP, a while ago the IPP can still do postcard size but when printed through the IPP the printed size are unjustifiably oversized.
Tried many ways including contact canon for driver support like cp1300 with no luck. Eventually I got bounced back with older device for the inch to inch precision, printable from computer.

After researching, The IPP Class Driver is a generic protocol-based driver. After recent Windows 11 updates, its advanced options were reduced, which is why you only see Letter size and Grayscale in the settings. Features like Japanese Postcard size and color printing require a device-specific driver from Canon.
- Canon does not provide an official Windows 11 driver for the SELPHY CP1500 series at this time: Canon SELPHY CP1500 Support Page
- Canon’s support pages only list firmware updates for Windows 11, not installable drivers: Canon Australia Firmware Update
- Community feedback confirms the printer relies on IPP/Mopria standards for Windows printing: End of servicing plan for third-party printer drivers on Windows
There are possible workarounds you could try:
1. Check Canon Support for Updates
Contact Canon Support directly to confirm if a Windows 11 driver is planned.
2. Install Windows 10 Driver in Compatibility Mode
If Canon offers a Windows 10 driver for similar models (e.g., CP1300), try installing it in compatibility mode.
3. Use Canon’s Photo Printing Utility
This can restore color and custom sizes, though it may not fully integrate with your workflow.
4. Prevent IPP Driver Auto-Selection
Add the printer manually and select the Canon driver (if installed) instead of the IPP Class Driver.
5. Temporary Rollback

Unfortunately, none of these solutions solve the issue.
So seems owners of the Canon 1500 are now out of luck. Between Microsoft downgrading their support for this driver and Canon not having a specific 1500 driver (BTW the 1300 does not recognize or work with the 1500) then we are out of luck.
Canon really need to step up here and release a driver for their hardware instead of relying on Microsoft Generic Drivers.
I appreciate your efforts with these answers but, alas, none of these solutions solved the issue.

Unfortunately, like you said, the limitation comes from Microsoft’s recent IPP driver changes and Canon not providing a Windows 11-specific driver for the SELPHY CP1500. Without that driver, advanced options aren’t available. Microsoft has announced the end of servicing for third-party printer drivers and is moving to IPP/Mopria-based class drivers for security and compatibility. This change means specialized features now require manufacturer support through dedicated drivers or Print Support Apps. Microsoft’s Statement
I’m sorry none of the suggested workarounds solved the issue. At this point, the most effective step is to contact Canon Support and request a dedicated driver, and also submit feedback to Microsoft about the impact of these changes.
