How to get rid of family safety, because I unfortunately created a microsoft account with date set to this year, and it is asking for "parent" permission to install softwares.

I am a startup founder who purchased a new laptop to run simulations for company. The laptop comes with Windows pre-installed and MS Office. The first software I installed was Office. There was a prompt to login to Microsoft account, and since I didnt have one for the company, I made one using the email: ########@gmail.com. I unfortunately set the "date of birth" in the account as this year. Now, when I installed office, it installed fine. But eveyrtime I try to install other softwares, it ask for an "adult"'s permission to set it.
I lost an investor's pitch option because when I tried to install zoom in a moment's notice, I was prompted to "get an adult's permission" and couldnt do it on time.

I somehow changed the "year of birth" in the Microsoft account to <PII removed>--which should qualify me as an adult, and then also tried to kick #########@gmail.com out of "family".

But just now, when I try to install spotify, it says I require permission from an "adult".

Please help me get rid of this absolutely ridiculous feature (saying this because I dont have children yet) or otherwise, my laptop would be useless as I--as well as other who work with me--need to install quite a lot more softwares in this.

    Hello Ashwin,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. It's my pleasure to help you today.

Please understand that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to cover your personal information in the description. Please notice to hide these personal or organization information next time you post error or some information to protect personal data.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your account restriction is preventing you from download app, especially when it is hinder your business.

An individual Microsoft account age is set as the time of creation. Change to the date of birth later might not be applied due to the reasons that actual children might abuse this as a loophole to dodge parental control.

May I know if you have made any purchase on this account yet? As I know, purchase on child account will need approval from an adult account. If you haven't bought any subscription or license yet. You can go to account.microsoft.com to change the log in email. Then you can remove the current Gmail account and use it to create a new one.

If you have bought a subscription, you can work around it by creating a new adult account. Add the current account to the family group and remove all restriction, this way you can freely access and download all the application.

This is a public forum, to moderators have limited access and cannot access your account to check for you. If you require more support, please contact Microsoft live support to see if there are any way they can help you verify your correct age.
