Why does my Teams kick me out saying I have no internet connection, when all my internet lights are on and my service provider confirms the signal never dropped?

    Hi @KFC Kelly

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

It appears that Microsoft Teams is reporting an offline status even though your internet connection seems stable. This behavior can occur when Teams briefly loses its ability to verify connectivity with Microsoft servers, even if your ISP confirms no service interruption.

Teams may interpret these as a loss of connectivity and display the “offline” message. This is different from a full internet outage, it’s often a short disruption in how Teams communicates with its required endpoints.

There are some steps you can try to migrate this:

    1. Restart Teams or sign out/sign in
    • Close the Teams app completely (right-click the Teams icon in the system tray and select Quit).
    • Reopen Teams and sign in again.
    1. Clear Teams Cache
    • Clearing the cache often resolves issues caused by corrupted or outdated data.
    • For full details, please refer to this guide: Clear the Teams client cache
    1. Check Firewall and Security settings

If Microsoft Teams indicates that there is no internet connection despite your service provider confirming that the signal is intact, it could be due to several factors:

    1. Network Connectivity Status Indicator (NCSI): The NCSI feature in your operating system may not be registering your internet connection correctly. You can check this by running the PowerShell command Get-NetConnectionProfile. If the value of IPv4Connectivity is NoTraffic or LocalNetwork, it means that internet access isn't available.
    2. Firewall or Proxy Issues: Sometimes, firewall or proxy settings can block Teams from accessing the internet. Ensure that the necessary URLs and ports for Microsoft Teams are opened in your firewall or proxy settings.
    3. Local Network Configuration: If there are issues with local network configurations, such as incorrect DNS settings, this could also lead to connectivity issues. Consider setting your DNS to a global DNS.
    4. Temporary Network Glitches: Even if the internet lights are on, there might be temporary glitches or packet loss affecting the connection. Testing your connection by accessing websites or using other applications can help confirm this.
    5. Teams Client Issues: Ensure that your Teams client is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, outdated versions can cause connectivity problems.

If the problem persists, collecting diagnostic logs and contacting Microsoft Support may provide further assistance.
