How do I modify unknown settings to resume printing Word docuemnts from my Android phone ? Out of the blue, mid-week, on my Android phone with Word open, I select Print. A new pop-up shows Title "use Microsoft 365 connected experiences" then in body "to enable this experience change your privacy settings" then a link to "learn more". In learn more, there is a table and I scroll to print(1) which explains in body "When you print a file in the Microsoft 365 mobile app or in individual Word, excel and Powerpoint apps for iOS and Android" I go to (1) and I see a lengthy description of the optional feature when I signed in. My implementation is italized above as I am not signed in.

My specific configuration is I use desktop Office 365 on PC and Individual Office products on Android as I rarely use Office Portal/web interface and do not use OneDrive (all of which need to be turned off repeatedly). I could nto attach screenshots due to a security rule on microsoft web page

Hi @Kelly Daniels,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issue of printing Word documents on Android phones. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused you.

We would like to clarify the situation you are experiencing:

When you select “Print” in the Word app on Android, a pop-up window prompts you to enable “Connected Experiences.” This is not a bug, but an official design by Microsoft since 2023, and it remains in effect as of September 2025.

The Word app on Android cannot generate a print file (PDF) locally. Instead, it needs to send the document to Microsoft’s servers to convert it into a PDF before printing. Therefore, if you disable Connected Experiences, the app will not be able to proceed with printing.

Recommended Solution: Transfer the document to a computer for printing

• Since you are using Office 365 on your computer, this is the simplest and safest way to print without enabling any cloud services.

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to share them with me. I’ll be here to support you.

So now MS Office is becoming less useful for me. In past two years I lost Zoom, WebEx and Teams in Outlook Desktop Client (something I used +2x a day) and Epson Scanner drivers in lieu of the remedial MS Scan drivers, I can no-longer print from Android (but I will at least update the Tech Support teams at Samsung and Epson that feature is removed since 2023 unless user participates in "connected experience" ) This has caused me to move on to new OS and turn off updates.
