A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Hi, Bill Finlayson
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
Thanks for your question. Here's the path you can follow to upgrade to Copilot Pro:
How to Upgrade
Purchase Copilot Pro
- Go to the Copilot Pro page or sign in at account.microsoft.com.
- You can also buy Copilot Pro through the Copilot app (iOS, Android, Windows), Bing, Edge, or Start mobile apps.
Sign in with your Microsoft account
- Ensure you’re signed in with the same account linked to your Microsoft 365 subscription.
- Copilot Pro works best when paired with Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscriptions for full desktop app access.
Activate in Excel
- After upgrading, open Excel and check for the Copilot icon in the ribbon.
- If it’s missing, go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon and enable Copilot under Main Tabs.
Requirements for Copilot in Excel
- File Location: Copilot in Excel only works with files saved in OneDrive or SharePoint with AutoSave enabled. Local files won’t work.
- Supported Formats: Use modern Excel formats (.xlsx, .xlsb, .xlsm).
- Language: Excel Copilot features are currently in English only and in preview.
- Subscription:
- Copilot Pro gives access to Copilot in web versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- For desktop apps, you need Copilot Pro + Microsoft 365 Personal or Family.
