Regarding your issue, redeeming an Xbox Gift Card through Microsoft Rewards automatically adds the balance directly to the Microsoft account used for the redemption, rather than providing a redeemable code. This direct deposit occurs because Microsoft Rewards has enabled this feature specifically for Xbox and Microsoft gift cards, with an email confirmation sent once the funds are available.

You cannot give the gift card to your friend with a different Microsoft account, as the balance ties exclusively to your account and cannot be transferred. Instead, use the added balance on your account to purchase a digital game or item as a "gift" via the Microsoft Store's buy-as-gift option, generating a code they can redeem on their own account.
