A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
Dear @Hafsa Yousaf,
Welcome to the Q&A Community.
Thank you for letting me know that you are working only on an Android device. I understand how important it is for you to use Urdu fonts in Word for your work or studies.
Currently, Microsoft Word for Android does not allow installing custom fonts. This is by design and applies to all Office mobile apps. The fonts available in Word mobile are built-in and tied to the app and operating system. Even if you download font files, Word for Android will not recognize them for editing. This limitation is confirmed by Microsoft and is not an Android restriction but a design choice for the mobile app.
Additionally, I’ve checked in my Word app using an account linked to a business subscription, and Office apps do include Cloud Fonts, which cover the Urdu font.
Since you didn’t specify whether your account is work, school or personal, you can try searching for the font directly in Word.
Additional information is available in the following resource: Cloud fonts in Office - Microsoft Support
I completely understand how the limitation in Word can feel disruptive, especially since the mobile version doesn’t currently allow adding custom fonts like .ttf or .otf files. It’s not just about aesthetics; these differences can genuinely affect how smoothly you work and navigate your day.
As a forum moderator, I hope you understand that I don’t have the ability to modify or escalate product issues directly. However, I strongly recommend submitting your feedback through the Word · Community.
