Linking Teams to Chat Gpt

I completely understand why you’d like to keep the same email and all your Microsoft Teams content while linking to your ChatGPT Business workspace. The challenge you’re hitting is due to how Microsoft identities work: a personal Microsoft account (MSA) and a work/school account (Microsoft Entra ID) are two separate systems and unfortunately, they can’t be converted or merged.

To clarify:

• You can’t turn your personal Microsoft account into a work account, even if both use the same email string. They remain two distinct identities.
• To link Teams with ChatGPT Business, you need to sign in with a work/school account in a Microsoft 365 business tenant (e.g., Microsoft 365 Business Premium) and then configure SSO on your ChatGPT workspace against your verified company domain.
• Teams (personal) data doesn’t automatically migrate into Teams (work or school). You can keep the old account for reference and manually move the essentials.

Also, if your requirement is primarily an AI assistant in Teams, I recommend using Microsoft Copilot in Teams as it’s fully integrated with Microsoft 365 security/compliance and doesn’t require separate SSO wiring to external services. This is often simpler than bringing third‑party AI into Teams.

In this case, the error you’re seeing usually means there’s a misunderstood between Microsoft 365 Premium (personal's plan) and Microsoft 365 Business Premium (business's plan): personal plans use personal Microsoft accounts (Outlook.com/Live) and can’t authenticate enterprise apps, while ChatGPT Business and Teams (business) require a work or school account in a business tenant (Microsoft Entra ID).
For comparison:

To proceed, please make sure you’re on Microsoft 365 Business Premium (or another business SKU), sign into the Teams for work/school app with your work account (not a personal one), and if you’re an admin enable SSO and verify your company domain in your ChatGPT Business workspace.
