How to backup/save a 1:1 chat teams conversation

You can back up and save a Teams conversation within 1 month through the Microsoft Purview portal. Please follow these steps (note: these actions require admin permissions for the tenant):

1. Go to https://purview.microsoft.com
2. Search for eDiscovery in the search bar
3. Under Case, select Create case
4. After creating the case, click on it and select Create a search
5. In Add source, choose the appropriate information
6. Click Run query and check the boxes as needed
7. Once the report table appears, click on the desired information and select Export

To ensure the search process delivers results that best match your expectations, I recommend creating a support request through the Microsoft 365 admin center. After you create a ticket, a live agent will proactively contact you and guide you step by step to set up the process, ensuring the most accurate results based on your needs.

2. Create a new case: Set up a new eDiscovery case where you can specify the search criteria for your 1:1 chat.
3. Search for your chat: Use the search functionality to find the specific chat messages you want to back up. You can filter by date, participants, and other criteria.
4. Export the results: Once you have the search results, you can export them to a format that suits your needs, such as a CSV file.
