I'm getting email every few minutes from what appears to be phishing. Each time the sender is new. I've been marking and deleting but need more help. The emails (there are two) have the same messages. Only difference is the sender changes- so they are not stopped.

    Dear Donna Roman

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community. I understand you are having problems with receiving repeated phishing emails in Outlook for Windows where the sender changes each time. I am happy to assist you.

To stop these emails more effectively, please try the following solutions:

    1. Use Outlook’s Report Phishing Feature
      • In Outlook for Windows, select the suspicious email.
      • Go to the ribbon and choose Report Message > Phishing.
      • This sends the message to Microsoft for analysis and helps strengthen global filters.
    2. Create Rules Based on Subject or Message Content
      • Since the sender changes, blocking individual addresses will not work.
      • In Outlook, go to Home > Rules > Manage Rules & Alerts > New Rule.
      • Choose Apply rule on messages I receive.
      • Set conditions such as specific words in the subject or body that match the repeated phishing message.
      • Choose Delete or Move to Junk Email folder as the action.
    3. Block Domains Instead of Individual Senders
      • If the phishing emails share a common domain (for example, @example.com), block the entire domain.
      • In Outlook, go to Home > Junk > Junk Email Options > Blocked Senders.
      • Add the domain to the blocked list.
    4. Increase Junk Email Protection Level
      • In Outlook, go to Home > Junk > Junk Email Options.
      • Set the protection level to High.
      • This moves most suspicious messages directly to the Junk Email folder.
    5. Check if Your Account is Compromised
      • Sign in to Microsoft Account Security.
      • Review recent activity to ensure your account has not been compromised.
      • Change your password and enable two‑step verification for added protection.
    6. Use Outlook Webmail’s Sweep Feature
      • Sign in via Oulook.
      • Select one of the phishing emails, then choose Sweep > Delete all messages with these conditions.
      • This removes existing and future emails that match the same subject or sender pattern.

To effectively combat the influx of phishing emails from various senders, consider implementing the following strategies:

    1. Report Phishing Emails: Use the built-in Report button in Outlook to report suspicious messages. This helps Microsoft improve their filters and may prevent similar emails from reaching your inbox in the future.
    2. Adjust Anti-Phishing Settings: If you are using Microsoft Defender for Office 365, you can configure anti-phishing policies to help block these emails. You might want to temporarily increase the phishing email threshold in your policy settings to a more aggressive level, which could help in filtering out these messages.
    3. Educate Yourself on Phishing Signs: Familiarize yourself with common signs of phishing scams, such as unexpected emails requesting personal information or containing suspicious links. This awareness can help you identify and avoid potential threats more effectively.
    4. Use Safe Links and Safe Attachments: Ensure that Safe Links and Safe Attachments features are enabled in your Microsoft Defender for Office 365 settings. These features can provide an additional layer of protection against malicious content.
    5. Consider Bulk Filtering: If these emails are being sent in bulk, you can configure a bulk confidence level in your anti-spam policy to treat such messages as spam.

By following these steps, you can enhance your email security and reduce the number of phishing emails that reach your inbox.
