I'm a student of [Moderator note: personal info removed] and was using office 365 for free on my student ID. I am not graduated yet but office 365 is notifying me to reactivate my student license and I have checked from the website of microsoft office which states that "You already have a license for Office 365 Education".

Help me reactivating my student license for free so that i can continue using it.

    Hi @meher zaid,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum.

When Office 365 Education starts prompting you to “reactivate” your student license even though you’re still enrolled, it usually means there's an issue with how your institution or Microsoft has provisioned or recognized your account.

Your Office 365 Education license is tied to your active enrollment status, meaning it remains valid only while you are an active student at your institution management. If your organization’s administrator removes or reassigns the license, your Office apps can enter an “unlicensed” state even if your school account still indicates that you have a license. This often happens during account audits, where licenses are reclaimed and stored for redistribution. Although these licenses are not technically expired, the process can leave you without an activated Office installation even if you haven’t graduated yet.

You can find more information about this behavior via this article: Manage graduating student licenses and content in Microsoft 365 Education - Microsoft Support

In this situation, only your school IT admin can help you reassign and reactive your license. Please reach out to them and ask them to check Microsoft 365 Admin Center → Users → Active Users, find your student account, and ensure the Office 365 Education license is active or reassigned under license management. If removed, they can re‑assign it and students can regain access once the license is reinstated.

In the meantime, you can continue using free browser versions: go to Office.com, sign in with your school account, and use Word, Excel, PowerPoint online. This works even if the desktop license is unassigned.

Once your admin re‑enables the license in Microsoft 365, reopen your Office apps and sign in again, your student license should reactivate automatically.

I hope this provides enough clarity and helps you stay inform with your current situation.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.
