I have been working with Copilot on a book for a couple of weeks. Today I was locked out for 24 hours. I am not using copyrighted material. What is the reason for this

Microsoft Copilot | Windows Copilot | Copilot+ PC

También me pasó, también creí que era por derechos de autor. Hasta ahora no he podido desbloquearlo

    Hi Thomas Jacobs,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Being locked out for 24 hours is most often related to usage limits or temporary service protections, not copyright. Depending on which Copilot experience you’re using (Microsoft Copilot app, Windows Copilot, Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps, voice, or image upload), different features can have different limits.

If your limit isn’t resetting as expected, here are some practical checks that you can try:

    • Sign out of Copilot, close the app/browser completely, then sign back in.
    • Try Copilot in a different browser (or InPrivate/Incognito), or a different device/network to rule out a session or cache issue.
    • If you recently changed licenses/subscriptions or switched between work/personal sign-in, allow some time for access to fully refresh as license capability updates can take time to propagate in some environments.

I look forward to receiving your update. Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.

There could be several reasons why you were locked out from using Copilot, even if you are not using copyrighted material. Some common causes for being blocked from using Copilot include:

    1. Content Filtering: Microsoft 365 Copilot has safeguards in place to block harmful content, which may include certain types of language or themes that are flagged by the system.
    2. Usage Policies: Your organization's policies may restrict certain types of content or usage scenarios that could lead to being locked out temporarily.
    3. Account Issues: If there are any issues with your account or licensing, it might affect your access to Copilot.
    4. Technical Glitches: Sometimes, technical issues or errors can lead to temporary lockouts.

If the issue persists, it may be beneficial to contact your Microsoft 365 admin or support for further clarification on the specific reason for the lockout.
