Shared Mailbox Names and Unread Email Count Not Displaying Correctly in New Outlook

We’ve encountered an issue in New Outlook where:

  1. Shared mailboxes only display “Inbox” instead of the full mailbox name.
  2. The quantity of unread emails does not appear next to the Inbox name.

This was previously working correctly, but something has changed recently.

Details:

  • Shared mailboxes are still accessible, but the folder name defaults to “Inbox” without the identifying mailbox name.
  • Unread email counts are missing, making it difficult to manage multiple shared inboxes effectively.
  • The correct names and counts were appearing earlier, so this seems to be a recent change or bug.

Steps Taken:

  • Verified permissions (Full Access and Send As are intact).
  • Checked Outlook settings and updated to the latest version.
  • Issue persists across multiple users.

Impact:

  • Confusion when managing multiple shared mailboxes.
  • Workflow disruption for teams relying on clear mailbox identification and unread email visibility.

Could you please confirm if this is a known issue with New Outlook and advise on any fixes or workarounds? If needed, we can provide screenshots. We’ve encountered an issue in New Outlook where:

I was experiencing the same issue, but as of 1/16/2026, the shared mailbox now appears with the account info. I am still unable to move emails to the shared mailbox's sub folders.
