Is the flag obselete? I tried it on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Changing the flag doesn't do a thing to the Edge Browser.

Hi @Dave Johnson ,
Thanks for reaching out.
You’re right that the edge://flags/#edge-rounded-containers flag no longer does anything in current Microsoft Edge builds. This experimental flag was deprecated in late 2024 as part of Microsoft’s redesign, and in 2025-2026 builds it no longer affects the UI even if it still appears in edge://flags.
A couple of helpful clarifications and tips:
edge://version or Settings > About Microsoft Edge (Stable, Beta, Dev, or Canary). For influencing future UI choices, send feedback via Alt+Shift+I (Help and feedback > Send feedback) and upvote the relevant community thread. Avoid rolling back to older Edge builds for UI tweaks due to security risks. On managed devices, policies may hide or override flags - but in this case the feature itself is retired and can’t be restored via policy.
Hope this helps! If my answer was helpful - kindly follow the instructions here so others with the same problem can benefit as well.
Today is 01/26/2026 and I have determined that the "rounded_frame_enabled":false setting in the Local State file is no longer being honored in Edge Version 144.0.3719.92. The new setting that I have fortunately been turning on using the GUI in edge://flags for our NEW users is "enabled_labs_experiments":["edge-rounded-containers@2"], also in Local State. We have MANY users that do NOT have the new setting under "browser" (after "breadcrumbs" in our Local State files), so I suspect that they will have to use edge://flags and search for "rounded" and set that flag setting to DISABLED and restart Edge. This "feature" should be controlled by Group Policy as I am concerned that it will affect our SSL/VPN screen sizes when Edge is used in that capacity. I posted a concern YEARS ago that fell on deaf ears and no action was taken by Edge development. I personally see no reason for this so-called "feature". I don't need my Windows Desktop applications to look like applications on my cell phone! I do NOT recommend local editing of the "Local State" file. We DID use Power Shell find and replace years ago to remove the rounded corners issue from all of our users at the time when that setting was in "rounded_frame_enabled". Our newer users hired last year all have the NEW rounded corners setting implemented already, fortunately.

The flag you mentioned, edge://flags/#edge-rounded-containers, may indeed be obsolete or no longer functional in the current versions of Microsoft Edge. Flags in browsers can be removed or modified over time, and it's possible that this particular flag has been deprecated. If changing the flag does not have any effect, it indicates that the feature it controlled may no longer be supported or has been integrated into the browser in a different way.
For the most accurate information, you may want to check the latest release notes or documentation regarding Microsoft Edge updates, as they often outline changes to flags and features.
