    Dear Walter Schubert

Thank you for your question and for sharing the details into Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I understand it’s frustrating when your headset shows as connected but there’s still no sound, this can interrupt your work and listening experience. Before proceeding with the steps, please also review the AI‑suggested answer and the Independent Advisor responses in this thread. They are generally accurate and include practical checks that are worth trying first. Then, please follow the steps below to see if they help restore audio and improve the headset connection.

    1.Check the output device

    • Go to Settings > System > Sound.

    • Under “Choose where to play sound”, select Bose QC Stereo (avoid the Hands‑Free option).

    2.Check the app’s output

    • In the same Sound settings, open App volume and device preferences.

    • For the app you are using (e.g., Teams), ensure the Output is set to Bose QC Stereo.

3.Remove and pair the headset again

    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices and Remove the Bose headset entries.

    • Power the headset off, then on, put it in pairing mode, and pair it again from Add device.

    • During pairing, make sure the headset is not simultaneously connected to another phone/tablet.

    4.Update the Bluetooth drivers

    • Open Device Manager > expand Bluetooth.

    • Right‑click and Update driver for:

    Intel Wireless Bluetooth (if applicable)

    Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator (if shown)

5.Disable Hands‑Free mode (if you do not need calling from the PC)

    • Open Control Panel > Sound > Recording.

    • Right‑click Bose QC Hands‑Free Voice and choose Disable.

(This helps keep the high‑quality Stereo profile active; note that the headset’s Bluetooth mic will not be used on the PC while disabled.)

Wishing you a smooth experience getting sound back on your Bose QuietComfort headset and maintaining a stable Bluetooth connection on Windows.

May I know when did the issue start? Is there any changes made before you got this issue?

Please send the make and model of your device. (Please press Windows key + R and type msinfo32 and hit enter, look for system model)

Have you tried to connect the headset on other device? Is it working? If yes, please make sure it's disconnected on that device before trying to connect it on your Windows device.

Please check and follow the steps below:

    1. Please shutdown your computer and headset and wait for at least 3 minutes before turning it on. Please check if the issue persists.
    2. Check if your headset was set as the default device.

On the Playback tab, make sure the headset is marked as the default device

You can also check it by clicking the speaker icon on the taskbar

Please check if the issue persists.

    Thanks,

If you're experiencing no audio with your Bose QuietComfort headset connected via Bluetooth, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check Bluetooth Compatibility: Ensure that your headset is compatible with Windows Mixed Reality, as Bluetooth audio headsets can have issues with voice and spatial sound experiences.
    2. Audio Settings: Go to your audio settings and ensure that the Bose headset is set as the default audio output device. You can do this by right-clicking the sound icon in the taskbar, selecting "Playback devices," and ensuring your headset is selected.
    3. Reconnect the Headset: Disconnect and then reconnect your headset to see if that resolves the issue.
    4. Update Drivers: Make sure that your audio drivers are up to date. You can do this through Device Manager by expanding the "Sound, video and game controllers" section and checking for updates.
    5. Run Troubleshooter: Use the built-in audio troubleshooter in Windows. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, and run the audio troubleshooter to identify and fix problems.
    6. Check for Interference: Bluetooth devices can sometimes experience interference from other devices. Ensure that there are no other devices causing interference.

If the issue persists, consider using wired headphones or checking if the headset works with another device to rule out hardware issues.
