If you have a Microsoft 365 Basic subscription, it covers only the Web versions of the apps. You would need a Personal subscription to activate Office for iOS.

    Dear @Heidi Negus,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I’m truly sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing with accessing your Microsoft 365 subscription. As a forum moderator, I wish I could directly access your account or look into the backend systems to resolve this for you. However, my role here is limited to providing general guidance and solutions that you can apply.

Based on your description, it sounds like your Microsoft 365 subscription is active, but you're only able to access Word via the web. This suggests that your Word app on iOS is likely using a "disconnected" license. Although your subscription is active on the Microsoft website, the app on your iPhone or iPad may still be relying on an old, expired session (token) or trying to verify against the wrong account.

To get Word working offline on your device, you’ll need to force the app to refresh its connection with the server. Since you haven’t specified your account type, I’ll assume you’re using a Work or Business account managed by an organization. Here are some steps you can try:

First, please check the status of your subscription by clicking this link:

    https://account.microsoft.com/services

Once the page opens, log in using your Microsoft account and check the status of your Microsoft 365 subscription under Subscriptions.

If you’ve resubscribed directly on the website, your app might still be stuck in an old "Logged Out" or "Expired" session. The most common fix for this is to sign out and sign back in:

    1. Inside the Word app, tap your Profile Icon (top left).
    2. Select your account and tap Sign Out.
    3. Crucial: Close the app completely (swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone/iPad and flick Word away).
    4. Re-open Word and Sign In again using the exact email address you used on the website.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue. Please give them a try and let me know if it works. If not, we can work together to resolve this. Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments so I can continue to support you. I'm looking forward to your reply.

If you're having trouble with your Microsoft 365 subscription not activating on your device, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Verify Subscription Status: Ensure that your subscription is active by checking it on the Microsoft account website. Sometimes, the subscription may not be fully processed.
    2. Sign In with the Correct Account: Make sure you are signing in with the same Microsoft account that is associated with your subscription. If you have multiple accounts, you might be using the wrong one.
    3. Update Microsoft 365: Open any Microsoft 365 app (like Word or Excel), go to File > Account, and check for updates under Update options. Keeping your apps updated can resolve many issues.
    4. Reset Activation State: You can try resetting the activation state for Microsoft 365. This may require administrative rights, so if you're not an admin, you may need to contact your IT department.
    5. Sign Out and Sign Back In: Sometimes, simply signing out of your Microsoft account in the app and signing back in can resolve activation issues.
    6. Check for License Assignment: If you're using a work or school account, ensure that your account has the appropriate license assigned. You may need to contact your Microsoft 365 administrator for assistance.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to reach out to Microsoft support for further assistance.
