How to fix if Team meeting toggle is missing?

I’m not seeing the “Teams meeting” toggle when creating a new calendar event.

For context, I currently have both:

  • Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise

Microsoft 365 Business Basic

I originally only had Business Basic. When I found out a colleague with Apps for Enterprise could see the toggle, I assumed it was a licensing issue and added Apps for Enterprise - but nothing changed.

I’ve tried creating events from all of the following:

Teams desktop app

Teams web

Outlook on the web

Outlook desktop app

In all cases, the Teams meeting toggle is still missing.

Has anyone experienced this or knows what might be causing it?

Hi @Justin Buen

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for taking the time to describe your experience so clearly.

Based on what you’ve shared, this behavior is very unlikely to be caused by licensing, even though it understandably feels that way. Adding Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise would not affect whether the Teams meeting toggle appears, so it makes sense that you did not see any change afterward.

When the Teams meeting option is missing across all entry points (Teams desktop, Teams web, Outlook desktop, and Outlook on the web), it usually points to a backend configuration issue, rather than an app or device problem.

Here are the most common causes we see in scenarios like yours:

  • Teams meeting policies assigned to the user may not allow private meeting scheduling or Outlook integration.
  • Exchange Online mailbox and Teams calendar integration may not be fully provisioned for the account.

Here are a few steps you can try to migrate this issue:

1/ Enable Outlook add-in

  • Go to Teams Admin Center (Administrator permissions are required).
  • Setting & policies > Custom policies for users & groups
  • Under Meetings & events > Choose Meetings  User's image
  • Select user which disables the Teams meeting add-in in Outlook
  • Navigate to Edit Policy tab > Choose Meeting scheduling
  • Scroll down and enable Outlook add-in toggle > Click Save

2/ Check Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams services

  • Go to Microsoft 365 Admin Center
  • Navigate to Users > Active users
  • Select user which missing Team meeting toggle > Choose Licenses and apps
  • Confirm that both Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams services are enabled on your account.  User's image

Additionally, as other users have raised similar concerns and may not be aware of where to share their feedback, I hope this response helps clarify the situation and suggests a potential next step. Highlighting this information can make it more visible to others in the community who may be facing the same issue, making it easier for them to find guidance and contribute their feedback as well.

Thank you again for your time and for raising this important usability concern. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I look forward to your thoughts on this.

The new Microsoft Teams calendar experience will replace the legacy calendar, removing the toggle to switch back. This update rolls out worldwide from mid- to late January 2026 Once this update is deployed, users accessing the Calendar app in Microsoft Teams will see the new calendar experience by default. The toggle to switch between the old and new calendar will be removed, and only the new Microsoft 365 calendar will be available. This change may impact users accustomed to the legacy calendar interface.
