I use Windows 11, VS 2022 and Asp.net. I have installed iis from "Control Panel", "Programs and Features". I would like to be able to debug using IIS or IIS express. I have seen that the directory "C:\Program Files\IIS Express" exists. In Solution Explorer, "Properties", "Startup Options" only allows me to enable "Use default web server". How do you configure iis express and activate it in VS for debugging?

Can you first open VS Installer > Modify > Individual components > Cloud, database, and server and confirm that IIS Express option is selected?
I think there’s another option which may meet your requirement: Tools > Options > Projects and Solutions > Web Projects > Use the 64 bit version of IIS Express for web sites and projects.
Besides, I tried to create an asp .net web application, but the property page looks not quite like yours, can you confirm that you created an "ASP .NET Web Application (.NET Framework)" project? If you are using other project templates please let us know the project template name.

The first two questions are affirmative. It's how I have it. I have also created an Asp.net project and that image also appears where Iis express can be activated. So, I have 2 websites that I have always believed are in Asp.net and they work. How can I find out which template I have used and how can I convert it to Asp.net if they are not?

I think the project you are using is also an ASP .NET project. It is not easy to directly confirm the project type, maybe the project GUID can help us confirm this. Please open .sln file with Notepad and check the project GUID, is it FAE04EC0-301F-11D3-BF4B-00C04F79EFBC?
As I know there’s no direct way to convert it to ASP .NET, if it’s not ASP .NET. You can try to copy and paste the code from this existing project to a newly created ASP .NET web project, if it is possible for you.
Other things that I suggest you to check is from .csproj file(you can right-click your project > Unload Project > right-click it again > Edit Project File to edit it) check if there are settings like <UseIISExpress>true</UseIISExpress>, <Use64BitIISExpress/> or <UseIIS>True</UseIIS>.

I have been able to convert the projects to Asp.net by creating new projects and passing the files. Thanks for your interest.

This fix addressed the "BadImageFormatException" when debugging legacy web apps in VS 2022. The apps have a dependency on a build of an x86 library. Before this fix, I needed to use VS 2019 to debug these projects.

Use 64 bit.... option is greyed out; updated VS software and project loaded!
