Hi Justine Chan
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand Microsoft Teams desktop app cannot be opened on macOS Ventura and shows “The application ‘Microsoft Teams’ can’t be opened.”
Please kindly try to follow these steps:
1. Fully remove Microsoft Teams from the system
- Quit Microsoft Teams
- Open Finder > Applications and move Microsoft Teams to Trash
- Open Finder > Go > Go to Folder and delete these folders if present:
- ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft
- ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2
- ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams
2. Restart the Mac
3. Download and install the latest Microsoft Teams for macOS from the official site.
Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/download-app
4. Allow the app in macOS security settings if blocked
- Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security
- Scroll down and allow Microsoft Teams if an “app blocked” message appears
5. Remove the quarantine attribute if macOS blocks the app
- Open Terminal
- Run: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Microsoft\ Teams.app
6. Launch Microsoft Teams again
I hope this helps and please feel free to let me know how it goes. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
