How to transfer files from my mobile phone to computer

I'm having a problem transferring files from my mobile phone to my PC. My USB phone charger was performing both functions perfectly (i.e charger + files transfer) until a couple of days ago. Now when I connect I get a message on my phone telling me that it can charge only until I "tap a USB connection" to enable files transfer.

I can't locate where to tap on my phone so now I'm wondering if the said "USB connection" is on the computer and not the phone OR if the problem is with my phone/connection wire. I'd appreciate any troubleshooting tips on how to deal with this. Thanks.

To transfer files from your mobile phone to your PC, you typically need to ensure that your phone is set to the correct USB connection mode. Here are some troubleshooting tips to help you resolve the issue:

    1. Check USB Connection Options: When you connect your phone to the PC, you should see a notification on your phone indicating that it is charging. Tap on this notification, and it should give you options for USB connection modes. Look for an option that says "File Transfer" or "MTP (Media Transfer Protocol)" and select it.
    2. Use a Different USB Cable: Sometimes, the USB cable can be the issue. Try using a different USB cable to see if that resolves the problem. Ensure that the cable supports data transfer, as some cables are designed only for charging.
    3. Test on Another Computer: If possible, connect your phone to another computer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the phone or the original computer.
    4. Update Drivers: Ensure that your PC has the latest drivers for your phone. You can check the manufacturer's website for any updates related to USB drivers.
    5. Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting both your phone and your PC can resolve connectivity issues.
    6. Check for Software Updates: Make sure that both your phone and PC are running the latest software updates, as these can sometimes fix bugs related to USB connectivity.

If you follow these steps and still encounter issues, it may be worth checking the support documentation for your specific phone model or contacting customer support for further assistance.
