LG Gram Wifi driver not working even after reinstalling

Hello,

My LG Gram laptop running Windows 11 cannot connect to internet or bluetooth. There isn't even an option to turn wifi on or off. I'm experiencing and issue really similar to the person in this post but none of those suggestions worked for me (weird that they had the same model of laptop). I believe it's the driver/s. I went through the troubleshooting steps, resetting the drivers, adapters, etc. Since I cannot access internet (or bluetooth) I even downloaded the driver on a different device to a USB drive and tried to reinstall it that way. Lots of restarting. Reset the network. I actually reinstalled windows (ehilewhile keepingmy files). I also uninstalled all the network drivers, restarted, norhing.

I've followed this pages instructions as well, although the "roll back driver" option is greyed out for me.

Please help as soon as you can. This totally screwed up a pretty tight deadline and I'm a little stressed.

    Hi Jean Bursey,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

When both Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth disappear together, and reinstalling drivers, resetting the network, or reinstalling Windows doesn’t restore them, this usually means the wireless hardware is not initializing correctly.

Here are some checking steps that you can try in this situation:

    1, Check BIOS

    • Restart the laptop and press F2 to enter BIOS.
    • Look for Wireless / WLAN / Intel Wi‑Fi.
    • If it’s missing or disabled, Windows won’t be able to detect Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth.

    2, Power reset

    • Shut down the laptop.
    • Unplug the charger.
    • Hold the Power button for 30 seconds, then wait 1–2 minutes and power on.

If Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth still don’t appear after the checks above, please contact LG Support with your model and serial number. They can advise on hardware service options specific to the device.

In the meantime, here are some immediate workarounds that you can consider:

    • USB Wi‑Fi adapter: Plug‑and‑play on Windows 11 and restores internet access immediately.
    • USB‑to‑Ethernet adapter: Fastest option if a wired network is available.

Work through these steps in order, using another PC plus USB where needed.

    1. Confirm the adapter is detected and enabled
      1. Open Device Manager (right-click Start > Device Manager).
      2. Expand Network adapters.
        • If the wireless adapter is listed but has a down-arrow, right‑click it and choose Enable device.
        • If it shows a warning icon, open Properties and check the error code, then follow the guidance under Device Manager error codes.
      3. If no wireless adapter is listed at all, Windows is not detecting it. In that case, manually install the correct LG Gram Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth driver package from LG’s support site using a USB drive, then check Device Manager again.
    2. Verify driver version and reinstall cleanly
      1. In Device Manager, right‑click the wireless adapter > Properties > Driver tab.
      2. Compare Driver Version and Driver Date with the latest version on LG’s support page for the exact Gram model.
      3. If it’s outdated or corrupted:
        • Right‑click the adapter > Uninstall device.
        • Check Attempt to remove the driver for this device if available > Uninstall.
        • Restart the PC. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver automatically.
      4. If Windows does not reinstall it, run the LG driver installer from USB and then restart.
    3. If the adapter is recognized but no Wi‑Fi toggle or networks appear
      1. Check for any physical Wi‑Fi switch or function key (Fn+F‑key) on the Gram and ensure wireless is turned on.
      2. Go to Settings > Network & internet and make sure Wi‑Fi is turned on.
      3. In Device Manager > wireless adapter Properties > Advanced tab:
        • Look for Wireless Mode or Band and ensure it supports the bands used by the router (2.4 GHz and/or 5 GHz), not set to a mode that filters them out.
    4. Run Windows Update for all drivers Once basic connectivity is restored (even via temporary USB Ethernet or phone hotspot), run Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates and install all available updates. This can pull updated network, Bluetooth, and chipset drivers that may fix underlying issues.
    5. Use Network Reset as a last resort (after drivers are in place) Since a reset was already tried, only repeat after confirming the correct LG drivers are installed:
      1. Settings > Network & internet.
      2. On Windows 11: Advanced network settings > Network reset.
      3. Select Reset now > Yes, then restart.
      4. Re‑install any VPN or virtual network software afterward.
    6. If the adapter still does not appear in Device Manager
      • After clean driver reinstall and network reset, a missing adapter usually indicates a hardware or firmware issue on the Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth module or mainboard.
      • At that point, contact LG support for hardware diagnostics or service, as Windows cannot use a device it cannot detect.
