Hello Lenovo IdeaPad,
Thank you for posting your question to the Q&A forum!
From what you described, your Lenovo IdeaPad touchpad stopped working after Windows 11 update. The I2C HID device driver is not functioning, and the touchpad settings page is missing from Windows Settings. Here are several methods you can try to resolve this issue:
Method 1: Power drain (full shutdown reset)
This resets Embedded Controller and I2C controller
- Shut down Windows completely
- Unplug the charger
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (this discharges residual power)
- Wait 1–2 minutes
- Plug the charger back in
- Power on the laptop
Method 2: Reinstall the I2C HID device
- Right‑click I2C HID Device from Device Manager > Uninstall device
- Check “Delete the driver software for this device” (if available)
- Restart the PC
After reboot, Windows should automatically reinstall the driver. Please test the touchpad afterward.
Method 3: Install Optional driver updates
- Windows Update often provides the correct HID or chipset fix here.
- Go to Settings > Windows Update
- Select Advanced options > Optional updates
- Install any available HID / I2C / chipset drivers
- Restart the PC
Please let me know how it goes so we could determine the next steps!
