OK THANKS IT IS APPARENT I'LL EVENTUALLY NEED TO TRANSITION TO UNIX OR ONE OF ITS VARIANTS OR MOVE ACROSS TO APPLE IOS IN THE NEAR FUTURE. WHEN ONE RE-INVENTS THE WHEEL ITS NOT ALWAYS NECESSARY TO REMOVE SUPPORT SPOKES FROM HUB TO MAKE IT RUN FASTER OR SUPPOSEDLY BETTER ! ! ! > . . . < ! ! !

    IE: IF WORKS DON'T FIX IT ! ! ! > . . . < ! ! !

In Windows 11 there is no built-in option to move the taskbar to the left, right, or top of the screen as in earlier versions of Windows. The taskbar is fixed to the bottom.

The available built-in customizations for the Windows 11 taskbar include:

    • Changing alignment of Start (centered or left) via Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors > Taskbar alignment.
    • Customizing taskbar items (Search, Start, system tray icons, Quick Settings, etc.) via Taskbar settings.

Moving the entire taskbar to another edge of the screen is not supported by current Windows 11 settings or policies.

After a complete redesign of the way the taskbar works in Windows 11 the option to move it as was available in Windows 10 has not been allowed.

I have read an email for the Insider Preview recently as follows:

    • More taskbar customization, including vertical and top positions Repositioning the taskbar is one of the top asks we’ve heard from you. We are introducing the ability to reposition it to the top or sides of your screen, making it easier to personalize your workspace.

This will be available in a future build after testing is completed.

    Hi John A. Gomez,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. I'm happy to help.

Windows 11 does not support Taskbar movement yet.

At this moment, the only workaround is to use third party applications. I will give you 3 of them: StartAllBack, ExplorerPatcher and Vertical Taskbar for Windows 11.
