    Hi @Fabrizio Anzalone

Regarding your issue, in Excel, Copilot is not just dependent on your license; it is also dependent on the state of the active workbook. If the workbook is stored locally or is in an older file format, the Copilot engine will not initialize, even if the software is fully updated.

Here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Use Cloud Storage and Enable AutoSave

Save the file to OneDrive or SharePoint

    • Open Excel and go to File > Save As
    • Choose OneDrive or SharePoint as the save location
    • Save the file in .xlsx, .xlsb, or .xlsm format

    Enable AutoSave

    • Locate the AutoSave toggle in the top-left corner of Excel
    • User's image
    • Turn it ON (the toggle should appear blue or green)
    • AutoSave must remain enabled for Copilot to function properly.
    1. Refresh the License and Clear Office Cache

    Update the license

    • Open any Microsoft 365 app (Excel, Word, or PowerPoint)
    • Go to File > Account
    • Select Update License and wait for the process to complete

    Clear the Office cache

    • Press Windows + R
    • Enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Office\16.0
    • Delete the OfficeFileCache folder
    • User's image
    • Close all Office apps and restart Excel

Restarting ensures the changes are fully applied.

    1. Reset the Excel Ribbon
    • Open Excel > File > Options > Customize Ribbon
    • Click Reset > Reset all customizations > OK
    • User's image
    • Close and reopen Excel
    • Check the Home tab or the top-right app bar to see whether the Copilot icon appears

Hopefully it will help work with your issue and if you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

Use the following checks in Excel to bring Copilot back in line with Word and PowerPoint.

    1. Confirm the correct account and license in Excel
      1. Open Excel.
      2. Check the account shown at the top-right of the window and under File > Account.
      3. Ensure this is the same work/school account that has the Copilot license (for business: Microsoft 365 Business Basic/Standard/Premium, E3, E5, F1, or F3 plus Microsoft 365 Copilot).
      4. If multiple accounts are signed in, sign out any personal or other accounts and keep only the licensed account.
    2. Refresh the Copilot license in Excel
      1. In Excel, go to File > Account.
      2. Select Update License.
      3. Close Excel (and other Office apps) completely, then reopen Excel and check if the Copilot button appears on the Home tab.
    3. Make sure Excel is on a supported update channel (business)
      1. In Excel, go to File > Account.
      2. Under Product Information, check the Update Channel.
      3. If it shows Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel, Copilot features will not be available in the desktop apps.
      4. Ask the Microsoft 365 admin or internal help desk to move the device to Current Channel or Monthly Enterprise Channel. Until then, Copilot should be available in Excel on the web.
    4. Check privacy settings in Excel
      1. In Excel, go to File > Account.
      2. Under Account Privacy, select Manage Settings.
      3. Turn on Experiences that analyze your content.
      4. Scroll down and turn on All connected experiences.
      5. Restart Excel and verify whether Copilot appears.
    5. Verify other known causes Inconsistent Copilot availability between apps can also be caused by:
      • Very recent license assignment (allow some time for propagation, then repeat Update License).
      • Network issues that block Copilot endpoints (see the network requirements in the Copilot documentation).
      • Device-based licensing or Shared Computer Activation (Copilot is not supported in those environments; a user-based license is required).

If Copilot still appears in Word and PowerPoint but not in Excel after these steps, contact the Microsoft 365 admin to confirm there are no organization policies blocking Copilot specifically in Excel.
