On MSN news articles, comments are controlled and moderated by MSN’s own systems, not by Windows or Microsoft Edge.
Common reasons comments cannot be posted include:
- Automated moderation blocking comments
MSN uses an AI-based moderation bot that can incorrectly flag comments or accounts as violating community guidelines, even when the comments appear benign. In these cases, every attempt to comment may be rejected with a generic “doesn’t meet community guidelines” message. - Account or comment restrictions on MSN
Long‑term or repeated blocks on commenting are usually due to MSN’s moderation and restriction rules tied to the MSN commenting system and, in some cases, to the underlying Microsoft account. These restrictions are not visible or manageable from Microsoft Edge or Windows settings. - No direct support for MSN comments in Microsoft Q&A
Microsoft Q&A and similar support channels cannot change MSN comment moderation, unblock accounts, or override the AI filter.
To address the issue:
- Use the MSN feedback option
- Open any MSN page where comments normally appear.
- At the bottom right of the MSN page, select the Feedback option.
- Describe that comments are being blocked or that the account appears restricted, including approximate dates and that comments used to work.
- Submit the feedback so the MSN team can investigate on their side.
- Be aware of automated moderation behavior
Even short, neutral comments can be blocked if the AI bot misclassifies them. Only the MSN team, via the feedback mechanism, can review and adjust this behavior.
If the underlying Microsoft account itself is locked or restricted for other reasons (for example, security or Terms of Use issues), that must be resolved through the normal Microsoft account recovery and verification flows; however, MSN comment unblocking still depends on MSN’s own moderation and feedback process.
