    Hi martin ward,

I am happy to help you today. Have you tried Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, before we go further, please confirm one point only:

    • Does the HDMI output still fail even during startup (for example, you don’t see the manufacturer logo or BIOS screen on the TV), or does it fail only after Windows loads?

In the meantime, you can try some additional steps:

    1, Reset the graphics driver

This refreshes the display driver without changing any settings:

    • With the TV connected via HDMI, press “Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B”
    • The screen may flicker or go black briefly, then come back

2, Check if Windows detects a “hidden” monitor

Sometimes the TV is detected but disabled:

    • Right‑click Start > open “Device Manager”
    • Expand “Monitors”
    • From the top menu, click “View” > “Show hidden devices”
    • If you see a greyed‑out monitor, right‑click it > “Enable device”

3, Force the HDMI audio output

This helps confirm whether Windows sees the HDMI link at all:

    • Right‑click the speaker icon > “Sound settings”
    • Under “Output”, check if a TV or HDMI audio device appears
    • If present, select it and test sound

    4, Test in Safe Mode

This checks whether a third‑party or OEM graphics driver is blocking HDMI:

    • Open “Settings” > “System” > “Recovery”
    • Under “Advanced startup”, select “Restart now”
    • Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart
    • Press 4 for Safe Mode

Try these steps in order, testing the HDMI connection after each step:

    1. Check TV input and power reset
    • Make sure the TV is set to the correct HDMI input (e.g., HDMI1/HDMI2) in the TV’s Input/Source menu.
    • Turn the TV off, unplug it from power for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
    1. Check cables and adapters
    • Use a high‑quality HDMI cable rated at least HDMI 2.0 and keep it as short as possible (no long extension cables).
    • Make sure the HDMI cable is firmly connected at both the PC and TV ends.
    • If using any adapter (USB‑C to HDMI, DisplayPort to HDMI, etc.), remove and firmly reinsert it, or test with a different adapter.
    • If possible, test the HDMI cable and TV with another device to confirm they work.
    1. Check Windows display settings
    • Press Windows logo key + P and choose Duplicate or Extend instead of PC screen only.
    • If the TV still shows nothing, open Settings > System > Display and select Detect to search for another display.
    1. Check for driver and firmware updates
    • Open the PC’s support app (for example, a vendor app similar to the Surface app) or go to Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates, especially display/graphics and firmware updates.
    1. Check monitor/TV port settings
    • On the TV, open its on‑screen menu and verify the HDMI port settings (for example, HDMI version or input mode) are correct for the device. Adjusting the port version can improve compatibility.

If none of these steps restore HDMI output and other devices work on the same TV/HDMI port, the HDMI port on the PC may be faulty and hardware service may be required.
