Hi martin ward,
I am happy to help you today. Have you tried Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, before we go further, please confirm one point only:
- Does the HDMI output still fail even during startup (for example, you don’t see the manufacturer logo or BIOS screen on the TV), or does it fail only after Windows loads?
In the meantime, you can try some additional steps:
1, Reset the graphics driver
This refreshes the display driver without changing any settings:
- With the TV connected via HDMI, press “Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B”
- The screen may flicker or go black briefly, then come back
2, Check if Windows detects a “hidden” monitor
Sometimes the TV is detected but disabled:
- Right‑click Start > open “Device Manager”
- Expand “Monitors”
- From the top menu, click “View” > “Show hidden devices”
- If you see a greyed‑out monitor, right‑click it > “Enable device”
3, Force the HDMI audio output
This helps confirm whether Windows sees the HDMI link at all:
- Right‑click the speaker icon > “Sound settings”
- Under “Output”, check if a TV or HDMI audio device appears
- If present, select it and test sound
4, Test in Safe Mode
This checks whether a third‑party or OEM graphics driver is blocking HDMI:
- Open “Settings” > “System” > “Recovery”
- Under “Advanced startup”, select “Restart now”
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart
- Press 4 for Safe Mode
