No one here knows which update you mean or what Brother printer you have. In general, if a printer is not working well, the easiest thing to do is to reinstall it, following the directions in your owner's instruction guide.

    Hi Jaap de Jong,

Thank you for reaching out. After a Windows 11 update, printers may occasionally stop responding due to changes in system services or printer drivers. The steps below usually restore printing quickly, please try these following solutions in order:

    1, Restart the Print Spooler

    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter
    • Locate Print Spooler, right‑click it, and select Restart

2, Remove and re‑add the printer

    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
    • Select your Brother printer and choose Remove
    • Restart your PC
    • Return to Printers & scanners and select Add device

    3, Refresh the printer driver

    • Open Device Manager
    • Expand Printers or Print queues
    • Right‑click the Brother printer and select Uninstall device
    • Restart the PC and allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically

    4, Check printer status

    • In Printers & scanners, open the printer queue
    • Ensure Use Printer Offline is not enabled

5, If using a USB connection

    • Power off the PC
    • Ensure the printer is powered on and connected directly via USB
    • Start the PC again

If the issue continues, installing the latest Windows 11 driver for your specific Brother printer model from the manufacturer’s support site can also help.

    Hi,

What is the model of your Brother printer?

Which connection are you using, USB or Network?

Go to Start menu > Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers > select the Brother printer > select Remove

If you are using a network printer, connect > Add printer > wait for the printer to appear and press Connect

    Thanks

Follow these steps in order; test printing after each step.

    1. Confirm Windows version
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > About.
      2. Note that the Windows edition is Windows 11 and whether it is 64‑bit. This is needed if a Brother driver download is required later.
    2. Let Windows repair the printer automatically
      1. On Windows 11, open the Get Help app (search for “Get Help” from Start).
      2. Run the Printer troubleshooter from there. It will automatically run diagnostics and attempt to fix most printer problems.
      3. If it finds and fixes issues, try printing again.
    3. Check that Windows still sees the Brother printer
      1. Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      2. Make sure the Brother printer appears in the list.
      3. Select it and choose Set as default so Windows uses it for printing.
    4. Restart the Print Spooler service
      1. Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
      2. Scroll down to Print Spooler.
      3. Right‑click Print Spooler and select Restart.
      4. Try printing again.
    5. Update or reinstall the Brother printer driver
      1. Select Start > Device Manager.
      2. Expand Printers (or Print queues).
      3. Right‑click the Brother printer and select Update driver and follow the prompts.
      4. If no update is found or printing still fails:
        1. Right‑click the Brother printer again and select Uninstall device.
        2. Restart the PC; Windows will attempt to reinstall a compatible driver automatically.
      5. Alternatively, in Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select the Brother printer and choose Remove. Restart the PC, then go back to Printers & scanners and select Add device to reinstall the printer.
    6. Fix possible driver compatibility issues after the update
      1. In Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select the Brother printer, then Manage.
      2. Choose Update driver there and let Windows search for a compatible driver.
      3. If Windows cannot find one, go to Brother’s support site and download a driver that matches:
        • Windows version: Windows 11
        • System type: 64‑bit (or 32‑bit, as noted in Step 1)
      4. Install the Brother driver and restart the PC.
    7. Roll back the printer driver if the problem started immediately after the update
      1. Select Start, type Device Manager, and open it.
      2. Expand Printers or Print queues.
      3. Right‑click the Brother printer and select Properties.
      4. On the Driver tab, select Roll Back Driver (if available).
      5. Restart the PC and test printing.
    8. Power‑cycle printer and PC
      1. Turn off the Brother printer and wait at least 10 seconds.
      2. Restart the PC.
      3. Turn the printer back on and try printing again.

If the printer still does not print after all steps, collect details (exact Brother model, connection type: USB/Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth, and any error messages) and provide them when contacting Brother or Microsoft support.
