Hi everyone, I’m trying to factory reset my Epson printer because it’s been having ongoing issues, but I can’t seem to find the correct steps. I’ve checked the menu settings, but I don’t see a clear reset option.

Has anyone done this before or knows the proper way to reset it? Any guidance would be really helpful. Thanks!

Mary

On most Epson printers, the reset option is hidden in settings. Go to Setup/Settings → Restore Default Settings → select ‘All Settings’. If you don’t see it, you may need to use the button combination or Epson service mode for your specific model.

In Windows there is usually no setting to reset a printer unless the printer manufacturer provides that.

If there is an LED display on your printer, go to Settings - Restore Default Settings - Clear All Data and Settings on the control panel, or hold the Power and Wireless/Information buttons on the printer until lights flash.

If that does not resolve the problem, then the best option is to completely uninstall the printer, restart your PC, then go to the support page for your printer on the Epson website to download and install the version of printer drivers, firmware and associated software they provide for your printer model.

Factory reset steps for Epson printers are not covered in the provided material. The available guidance only addresses fixing printer issues in Windows by updating/reinstalling drivers, removing and re-adding the printer in Windows, and running troubleshooters.

From the available information, the supported steps on the Windows side are:

    1. Remove the printer from Windows
      • Windows 11: Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
        • Select the Epson printer > Remove > confirm Yes.
      • Windows 10: Select Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
        • Select the Epson printer > Remove device.
    2. Update or reinstall the printer driver
      • Select Start > Device Manager.
      • Expand Printers.
      • Right‑click the Epson printer > Update driver.
      • If no update is available or the driver is broken, select Uninstall device, then restart the PC so Windows can reinstall the driver automatically.
      • If the driver installation hangs or is stuck, completely uninstall all Epson software/drivers, reboot, then install the latest Epson driver again with the printer disconnected, and only connect the printer when the installer prompts. Stuck Epson driver installs are commonly resolved this way.
    3. Re‑add the printer in Windows
      • Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device and follow the prompts.
      • Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners > Add a printer or scanner and follow the prompts.

For a true hardware “factory reset” of the Epson device itself (panel/menu reset), consult the Epson manual or Epson support, as those steps are not included in the referenced content.
