A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Hi Stephen Shunk,
As noted in the AI's answer, Ctrl + Page Down and Ctrl + Page Up are still the correct Excel shortcuts to switch between worksheets.
What you described usually means Excel is not actually receiving Page Up/Page Down, even though that is the correct shortcut for switching sheets.
If those keys only move you within the current sheet, Excel is usually not receiving a true Page Up/Page Down key press. On many laptops, this can happen because the Fn layer changes what the key sends. On some models, Fn Lock (Fn + Esc) can also reverse that behavior.
A few quick things to check:
- Try the shortcut with the On‑Screen Keyboard in Windows using
Ctrl + PgDn / PgUp. If that works, Excel is fine and the issue is likely the physical keyboard mapping. - On a laptop, try
Ctrl + Fn + Down/Up ArroworCtrl + Fn + PgDn/PgUp, depending on the key labels. - Check whether Fn Lock is on or off (
Fn + Escon many devices). - Also check whether Scroll Lock is enabled, since that can change navigation behavior in Excel.
As an alternative way to navigate, you can also right‑click the sheet navigation arrows at the bottom‑left of the workbook to open a list of worksheets and jump directly to the one you want.
Please let me know if this proves useful to you, or if you would like further assistance.
I'm looking forward to your reply.
