As of March 25, 2026 Planner App has been removed from Microsoft Teams (desktop)

This morning, when opening my planner app through TEAMs on desktop, (because using it from a browser seems not to include some tasks so this is my workaround) the app was gone. It was not searchable. My IT department also could not find it, they uninstalled teams and re-installed but to no avail.

I'm hesitant to go back and use it through Microsoft 365 on edge because many of the tasks have historically been mysteriously omitted. Using a desktop version seems to be more trustworthy.

Is this a glitch and will Planner be put back into the desktop app of teams?

Hi @A. Stewart,

Thank you for reaching out.

I understand how disruptive it is to open Teams on your desktop and suddenly find that the Planner app has disappeared - especially since the desktop version has been your reliable workaround for missing tasks in the browser.

Based on the information available, this behavior matches a known service issue currently listed in the Microsoft 365 admin center under Service Health with Issue ID TM1261085. Microsoft has confirmed that some users are unable to view or access the Planner app within Microsoft Teams, and the engineering team is actively investigating the root cause.

For reference: Service health - Microsoft 365 admin center.

Note: Access to the admin center is restricted to Microsoft 365 Global Admins. If you don’t have the necessary permissions, please contact your IT administrator for assistance.

According to the advisory, Microsoft’s recommended temporary workaround is for your IT admin to update the Planner app assignment in the Teams admin center - after clearing the Teams cache and resetting the user’s sign‑in state. The path is: Teams admin center > Planner > Users and groups > Edit availability > Everyone.

Microsoft also encourages admins to submit an impact report directly through Service health - Microsoft 365 admin center. These reports help Microsoft assess how widespread the issue is and can accelerate the resolution.

An update: IT disabled then reenabled everyone as per your instructions and I am now able to see the icon for planner and access the app inside teams. As of now, it is working. Thanks!
