Connectivity issue with Redmi Buds 6 Active on Windows

Hi everyone, I’m having trouble reconnecting my Redmi Buds 6 Active to my PC. I previously paired them, but after removing the device from my Bluetooth settings, I haven't been able to reconnect.

The PC can see the earbuds in the 'Add a device' list, but it fails to establish a connection when I click on them.

Here is what I have already tried:

I performed a hard reset on the earbuds (holding the touch area for 10+ seconds while in the case).

I uninstalled all hidden Bluetooth drivers related to the earbuds from Device Manager.

I restarted the Bluetooth Support Service and set it to Automatic.

I tried pairing through the Control Panel (Devices and Printers) instead of the Windows Settings menu.

I made sure they aren't connected to my phone while trying to pair with the PC.

Despite all this, they still won't connect. Has anyone experienced this or found a fix? Thanks in advance!"

    Hi Cavid Əliyev

Thanks for the detailed troubleshooting, you’ve already ruled out the standard Bluetooth steps.

Since the earbuds appear but fail at the moment of connection, this usually points to a stale Bluetooth audio profile or driver‑level compatibility issue on Windows, not basic pairing.

You can try the following checks:

    • Fully remove leftover audio endpoints In Device ManagerView > Show hidden devices, remove all Redmi / Bluetooth audio entries under:
      • Sound, video and game controllers
      • Audio inputs and outputs
      • Reboot before pairing again.
    • Confirm true pairing mode after reset A factory reset does not always leave Redmi Buds in pairing mode. After resetting, open the case and keep the LED flashing continuously before attempting to connect.
    • Install the Bluetooth driver directly from the PC or chipset manufacturer Windows Update drivers often lack fixes needed for newer earbuds (especially with LE Audio negotiation).
    • Test the earbuds on another device (phone/tablet) If they connect instantly elsewhere, the issue is isolated to the Windows Bluetooth stack. If not, it may be firmware or hardware related.

If the issue persists, please share:

    • Windows version
    • Bluetooth adapter model (Intel/Realtek/MediaTek)

That will help determine whether this is a known compatibility or driver issue.

Since the earbuds show up but will not connect after being removed, treat this as a Bluetooth pairing/connection failure on Windows 10/11 and walk through the supported steps in order:

    1. Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter (Windows 10/11)
Use the Get Help app’s automated Bluetooth troubleshooter, which can detect and fix common pairing/driver/service issues.
    2. Verify Bluetooth is on and earbuds are in pairing mode and in range
      • Windows 11: Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices, and ensure Bluetooth is turned on.
      • Windows 10: Select Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, and ensure Bluetooth is turned on.
      • Put Redmi Buds 6 Active into pairing mode per the manufacturer’s instructions and keep them close to the PC while pairing.
    3. Remove and re-add the earbuds from Windows
Even though they were removed previously, ensure there are no remaining entries:
      • Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices, locate the earbuds, select More options (… ) > Remove device.
      • Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, under Audio or Other devices, select the earbuds > Remove device.
Then select Add device (Windows 11) or Add Bluetooth or other device (Windows 10), choose Bluetooth, and select the earbuds when they appear.
    4. Turn Bluetooth off and back on
      This clears temporary radio/service issues:
      • Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices, turn Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it on and try pairing again.
      • Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, turn Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it on and try pairing again.
    5. Check the earbuds’ battery level
Some Bluetooth devices will not enter pairing mode or maintain a connection on low battery. Fully charge the Redmi Buds 6 Active in the case, power them off/on, then attempt pairing again. For rechargeable earbuds, leaving them connected to power during pairing can help.
    6. Check for Windows Updates
Install all pending updates to ensure Bluetooth stack and drivers are current:
      • Windows 11: Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • Windows 10: Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
Let Windows download and install any available updates, then restart if prompted and retry pairing.
    7. Update the Bluetooth adapter driver
If Windows was recently upgraded or updated, the existing Bluetooth driver may be incompatible:
      1. Select Start > Device Manager.
      2. Expand Bluetooth, right-click the Bluetooth adapter (may include the word “radio”).
      3. Select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software and complete the wizard.
      4. Restart the PC if prompted, then try pairing again.
    8. Restart the PC
After the above changes, perform a full restart: Start > Power > Restart, then attempt to pair the earbuds again.

If the earbuds still refuse to connect to the PC but continue to work with other devices (like a phone), check the manufacturer’s documentation for any PC-specific pairing limitations or steps, and confirm that the earbuds support the Bluetooth profiles required for audio on Windows.
