    Dear Adrian Alba - DSV

Thank you for posting your question to the Microsoft Q&A forum and for providing a clear description of the error. I understand how frustrating it can be to encounter login issues on a new device, especially when you are certain your email and password are correct.

To determine the best path forward, could you please clarify which application you are trying to use to sign in?

    • Microsoft Outlook app (from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store)
    • Built-in phone email app (e.g., Samsung Email, Gmail app, Apple iOS Mail)
    • Third-party app (e.g., Mailbird, Thunderbird, Yahoo Mail)

If you are using a built-in phone app or a third-party client, I highly recommend switching to the official Microsoft Outlook app. It natively supports Modern Authentication and provides the most stable, secure experience for Hotmail and Outlook.com accounts.

In the meantime, please try these troubleshooting steps to establish a connection on your new phone:

    Step 1: Verify Browser Access

Before configuring any mobile apps, open a web browser on your new phone (like Chrome or Safari), navigate to outlook.live.com, and attempt to sign in.

    • If you cannot sign in here, your account may be temporarily locked or require a password reset.
    • If you can sign in successfully, the account is active, and the issue is isolated to the mobile application.

Step 2: Configure Two-Step Verification (If Applicable)

If your Microsoft account uses Two-Step Verification (2FA), your new phone will need to be properly authenticated before mail apps can sync.

    1. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app from your device's app store.
    2. Open the app, select Add Account, and choose Personal account
    3. Sign in with your Hotmail credentials and follow the prompts to complete the 2FA setup on this new device.
    4. Once the Authenticator app is successfully linked and generating codes, open the official Microsoft Outlook app and attempt to sign in again.

Please let me know if these steps help resolve the connection error. If the issue persists, it would be greatly appreciated if you could reply with the name of the app you are using, and we can explore further diagnostic steps.
