PDF to Visio

There is no built-in way in Visio to convert a PDF drawing back into an editable Visio diagram. Visio and the Microsoft 365 apps covered in the context only support exporting/saving diagrams to PDF or image formats, not importing PDFs and turning them into shapes.

The supported workflows are:

• Create or edit the diagram in Visio (desktop or web).
• Then save or export it as PDF or as an image file (PNG, JPEG, SVG, etc.) for sharing or viewing:
  • In Visio for Windows: File > Export > Create PDF/XPS Document to create a PDF, or File > Export > Change File Type to save as an image format.
  • In Visio for the web: File > Save As > Download as PDF or Download as Image.

To get an existing PDF drawing into Visio as editable shapes would require third‑party PDF‑to‑Visio conversion tools or manually recreating the drawing in Visio. Those approaches are outside the capabilities described in the provided documentation.
