What's with the AI generated 3 page essay? It shouldn't be complicated to log out of the Xbox app. I swear, Microsoft is doing everything to get you to log in or sign up just to use applications on an operating system and prevent you from ever leaving. Windows 11 is really absolute trash.
I cant log out of xbox app on pc
everytime i try to log out
get an app to open ms-gamebar link
ive tried alot of stuff, yt videos, ai, similar cases on microsoft but nothing works.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
May I know if you have had the chance to check the AI assistant suggestion yet? If you did, may I know how it goes?
Before we proceed further, may I have a photo of what happens when you try to log out? Please remember to remove all personal information before posting.
I'm waiting for your reply.

2026-04-02T10:11:12.0633333+00:00 Try these steps in order on Windows 11 to break the sign‑in loop and fix Xbox app sign‑out issues:
- Sign out of the Microsoft account on Windows and apps
- Open Settings > Accounts > Your info.
- Switch from a Microsoft account to a local account: choose “Sign in with a local account instead” and follow the prompts.
- Restart the PC.
- After restart, open the Xbox app and it should now prompt for sign‑in instead of looping. Close it for now.
- Remove Microsoft account from Windows “Email & accounts”
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts (or Access work or school depending on build).
- Select the Microsoft account that the Xbox app is using and choose Remove, then confirm.
- Restart the PC again.
- Reset Microsoft Store and Xbox app sign‑in state
The Xbox app uses Microsoft Store services, so reset the Store cache:- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
wsreset.exeand select OK. - A blank command window opens, then Microsoft Store will launch automatically.
- Close the Store.
- Re‑add the Microsoft account cleanly
- Open Settings > Accounts > Your info and switch back to sign in with a Microsoft account if desired, using the account that should be used for Xbox.
- Open the Xbox app and sign in when prompted.
- Try signing out again from the Xbox app menu; it should now sign out without opening the
ms-gamebarlink.
- If still stuck in a loop
- Convert back to a local account again (step 1).
- Reboot and leave it for some time (up to about an hour) to let account changes propagate.
- Then convert again to a Microsoft account and test the Xbox app sign‑in/sign‑out.
These steps mirror a known fix where converting the Windows sign‑in from Microsoft account → local account → Microsoft account resolves persistent Microsoft app login loops.
