Hey,

According to Windows Insider, there's an update, and yet when I use Windows Update, it says that I'm all updated. How do I get the newer build?

Please ignore this issue for now.

I've seen other reports of this about

a new build being available.

Just wait for the next build release.

    Hi,

What Insider build are you on?

    Check the Windows Update History

to ensure the build you have was

    successfully installed.

Pause Updates and reboot your PC,

then Unpause Updates and see if

it clears the issue. Sometimes this

issue is on the Microsoft side and

    means nothing.

Windows Insider preview builds are offered only when the device meets the specific prerequisites for that build and channel. If Windows Update reports that the device is up to date while a newer Insider build exists, the usual reasons are:

    1. The device is not on the correct Insider channel or minimum build required for that update.
    2. The update is not yet targeted to that specific device/configuration.

To get a newer Insider build when Windows Update says the device is up to date:

    1. Verify Insider channel and eligibility
      • Open Settings > Windows Update.
      • Confirm that the device is enrolled in the Windows Insider Program and on the correct channel (e.g., Slow, Fast, or Release Preview for the examples above).
    2. Check for updates again
      • Still in Settings > Windows Update, select Check for updates.
      • If the device meets the channel and build prerequisites, the newer Insider build should be offered automatically.
    3. Use the standalone package (if available for that build)
      • For some Insider cumulative updates, a standalone package is available via the Microsoft Update Catalog (for example, KB4495666, KB4497093, KB4497936 in the examples).
      • If the device meets the prerequisites (correct ring and base build), download and install the corresponding KB from the catalog.
    4. Ensure servicing stack updates (SSUs) are installed
      • Before installing some Insider LCUs, the latest servicing stack update (SSU) is required (for example, KB4498524 or KB4500109 in the examples).
      • If using Windows Update, the SSU is offered automatically; otherwise, obtain it from the Microsoft Update Catalog and install it first, then retry the cumulative update.

If the device is correctly enrolled, meets the prerequisite build, has the latest SSU, and still shows “You’re up to date,” the newer build may not yet be flighted to that specific device; in that case, wait for the next flight or clean‑install a newer Insider build when available.
