Outlook NEW Error

When I opened Outlook NEW today, the following error message appeared. After clicking many times it went away and I could open Outlook NEW. It happens each time I open the app. What can I do to have this go away? I've gone into CONTROL PANEL and done a Quick Repair of Microsoft 365 and this didn't resolve the problem.

    @TJ Garland
You have hit a Known Bug. There is nothing you can do to fix it. All any of us can do is wait for the next release of New Outlook for Windows and hope that Microsoft has fixed it.

Just [OK] thru the error messages. There is no loss of Outlook functionality once it finally opens.

Multiple builds of the April 2026 New Outlook for Windows introduced a packaging bug where olk.exe calls into Microsoft.Windows.Workloads.dll for a function that isn’t exported, which is why you’re seeing the entry point error. Microsoft has already acknowledged the problem and is preparing a corrected build that will restore proper dependency handling.

    Dear @TJ Garland,

Based on the issue message you shared, this appears to match a recently reported issue affecting certain New Outlook for Windows builds, where olk.exe may fail to start with a TryCreatePackageDependency entry point error in Microsoft.Windows.Workloads.dll.

As Quick Repair did not resolve the issue, I recommend fully uninstalling New Outlook for Windows, then reinstalling it from the Microsoft Store.

Also, you can try this step before reinstalling:

    Press Windows + R > run: %LocalAppData%\Microsoft

    Delete the folders: Olk, OneAuth

    Then restart Windows.

If the issue continues after these steps, using Classic Outlook or Outlook on the web temporarily may be the most practical workaround until a corrected update becomes available.

There are some similar cases having same issue as you:

I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction. Please try the steps above and let me know if they work. If not, we can continue working together to narrow this down.

The first response may not always resolve the issue right away, but with your help and more details, we can work toward a solution.

Use the steps that reset the local state and cached data for the new Outlook app; this typically clears recurring launch errors that persist after a Quick Repair.

    1. Close all Microsoft apps (Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.).
    2. Press Windows + R, type:
         olk.exe --clearLocalState

      and press Enter.
    3. Start New Outlook for Windows again from the Start menu.
    4. When prompted, sign back into the account and let Outlook resync mail.

If the error still appears after clearing local state, remove the local Outlook/OneAuth cache folders and let them be recreated:

    1. Close all Microsoft apps again.
    2. Press Windows + R, type appdata, and press Enter.
    3. Go to Local → Microsoft and delete these folders (if present):
      • Olk
      • OneAuth (or oneauth / identitycache if present)
    4. Restart Windows.
    5. Open New Outlook and sign in again.

These steps recreate the new Outlook’s local configuration and authentication cache, which resolves many startup and entry‑point errors without affecting server‑stored mail and calendar data.
