A family of Microsoft presentation graphics products that offer tools for creating presentations and adding graphic effects like multimedia objects and special effects with text.
Ink Replay is only available in specific versions and editions of Office, and only after ink has actually been drawn.
Key points for Mac and PowerPoint 365:
- The Ink Replay feature itself is available to Microsoft 365 subscribers and is supported in PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 for Mac and PowerPoint 2021 for Mac.
- When using a stylus or touch device to draw ink on a slide, the Ink Replay option appears on the Draw tab of the Ribbon to rewind and replay ink strokes.
- On Mac, the newer experience is exposed as Replay/Rewind animations applied to ink. In PowerPoint 2021 for Mac, the “Replay” or “Rewind” animation can be applied to ink to get the drawing effect directly in presentations, and the timing of these animations can be adjusted.
- The Ink Replay button itself is not something that can be manually added via Ribbon customization on Mac if it does not appear; it is context‑sensitive and only shows when supported ink is present and the app version supports the feature.
To use the feature on Mac:
- Ensure the subscription is Microsoft 365 and that PowerPoint for Mac is on a version that supports ink replay (PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 for Mac or PowerPoint 2021 for Mac).
- On the Draw tab, select a pen and draw ink on the slide.
- Use Ink Replay on the Draw tab (if present) to replay strokes, or:
- Select the ink (e.g., with Lasso Select), go to Animations, and apply the Replay or Rewind animation to get the ink drawing effect during slide show.
If the feature is not visible at all, update Office to the latest version supported for the Mac OS in use; older builds or non‑subscriber editions may not expose Ink Replay.
